January 6 commissionRep. Marjorie Taylor Greene claimed on Tuesday that any telecommunications company that complies with a request to hand over Republicans' messages to the January 6 commission would be "shut down."
The House committee is investigating the circumstances surrounding the Capitol riot.
On Friday, the group asked social-media companies to turn over records related to the riot. On Monday, it asked 35 social-media and telecommunications companies to "preserve" records from a list of Republicans in Congress, former President Donald Trump, and Trump's family.
Several Republicans described those requests as a form of authoritarian overreach, a theme that dominated Greene's appearance on Fox News' "Tucker Carlson Tonight" on Tuesday.

For an enterprising young attorney (perhaps just out of law school) to promulgate a pleasant lawsuit against MTG for her threat to obstruct justice by closing a telecommunications business for simply complying with a legal congressional subpoena.

Former President Donald Trumps Justice Department reportedly secretly seized the phone records of Democratic members of Congress, their aides, and family members in an effort to hunt for leaks from stories about Trumps associates ties to Russia.
The explosive story, first reported by the New York Times, details an extraordinary effort by the Trump administration to use the investigative power of the Justice Department to carry out the then-presidents bidding as it sought the sources of politically damaging stories.
The two members of Congress are Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), both of whom were members of the House Intelligence Committee. At least a dozen peoples records were subpoenaed. No charges seem to have resulted.
Investigators reportedly debated closing the case based on lack of evidence and other factors, but following the ouster of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, his successor, William Barr, revived it, the Times reports.

Trump too. No voice; no data; no text. Why should a private company carry a single byte of data for someone who threatens them?
