PLEDGE TO MOBILIZE: DEFEND OUR REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS
On October 2, we're marching in every single state ahead of the Supreme Court reconvening on October 4. Women's March and more than 90 other organizations, including National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, Planned Parenthood, SHERO Mississippi, Mississippi in Action, Access Reproductive Care-Southeast, The Frontline, Working Families Party, and SisterSong, are organizing a national call to mobilize and defend our reproductive rights.
Abortion has never been fully accessible, but we are at the risk of losing our reproductive freedom completely. The call to action is clear, and urgent. The relentless attacks from Texas to Mississippi are ramping up quickly. Anti-choice extremists have a deep desire to return to a time when there was more clear and effective domination and control over queer and trans folks, women, and people of color; they want to revive those old values and societal norms to the point of re-acceptance. The authoritarian agenda of reproductive control is fueled by misogyny and racism - and we must challenge it, together.
On October 2, were going to send the Supreme Court and lawmakers across the country a clear, unified message. The attack on our reproductive rights will not be tolerated.
We have this opportunity to invite all the people that know us and love us into this important movement and work united as we build something better for our families and communities. As a small powerful group tries to come for our human rights over and over again, well never let go of our vision of reproductive justice; for unfettered abortion access and everything we need to support and grow our families to thrive and live healthy lives.

(15,325 posts)...about creating a force of women that unites generations of women in one big voice, to invite & honor the woman who has wholly represented the abuse we all understand from the most powerful to the weakest of men, Invite Hillary Rodham Clinton to speak to the united cause of Women's Rights.
Otherwise they will be isolating a massive loyal force of voices & connections that would grow & fund their organization, by that one simple honorable invitation.
They could both mend & put an end to a bitter divide that too, was created by the men of power.
Give her a place on your stage to speak to this cause, & you unite the entire world of women.
And that is what it will take to defeat the powers that aim to suppress us all.

(15,325 posts)HRC is an icon of women's rights.
They are fools to ignore what she brings to the national & world stage.
We'll see. I'll post what, or if I hear back from them.

(1,450 posts)Mobilize now to get like-minded women to the polls in STATE AND LOCAL ELECTIONS and be sure that women run candidates all over the states and local elections. There should be a female candidate in every contest if only a name as a write-in candidate. Pass the word to all your friends who support choice and democracy!
ALL ELECTIONS AT EVERY LEVEL HAVE CONSEQUENCES.

Fking giant facepalm
This is the pure #HATE that caused this bottomless hellhole we'll be clawing our way out of for years.

(22,656 posts)And you know Sarsour hasn't been affiliated with Women's March for over two years now, right?
Don't forget to sign up to march!

(15,325 posts)Stop the continue & coordinated destructive assault on this woman, by powerful men, & they open the doors to all women.
Not just an exclusive club.
Especially after Sarsour's & Mallory's shady business of the pink hat March, the club remains exclusive.
It's up to the March Leaders from here on, to mend that divide or it will remain an exclusive club.
Depends what they're after.
littlemissmartypants
(22,656 posts)That's not really your call.
The post is about a pledge to march. If you're not interested, it doesn't apply to you.
But thanks for the additional kicks and helping it rise to the top of the forum.

(17,387 posts)The latest census has shown that the United States has continued to grow much more diverse. While this should be great news, the fact of the matter is that extreme right recognizes this, and knows that they cannot compete when it comes to mass protests. Likewise, the right understands that they need to manipulate redistricting and make harder to vote in densely populated urban areas in order to retain power. Finally, to magnify their voices, the right has taken advantage of the fact that many local school boards and city councils give members of the public the right to publicly comment during board meetings, which the extreme right has done:
This is why Republicans push issues like opposing masks at schools or the hysteria against "critical race theory". These divisive issues give the right a pretext to show up and speak and ultimately control the agenda at local government meetings. Indeed, sometimes you see the same 20-30 right wing advocates just going from meeting to meeting to effectively filibuster the agenda by spouting right wing talking points that they heard from Tucker Carlson.
The question is where is the left in local government? You do not need a lot of people or a lot of money. Yet, we have yielded the floor to the same twenty or so loudest right wing extremists who cruise through meetings to create youtube worthy spectacles that get more views then a long planned march of hundreds of people.

(22,656 posts)They've been pretty successful so far.
Also...
This post is about making a pledge to march, or not.
If you're not interested in marching you don't have to.
I suggest you start your own OP with the information you've posted here instead of attempting a thread hijack.
Thanks for the kick, though.

(17,387 posts)I guess it is great as a show of solidarity, but where is the grass roots follow through?
If we can take just 10 percent of the people showing up at March and have them consistently show up and speak at local government meetings, then we might win the battle.
My issue is that I think that progressives are making things way too hard for themselves by ignoring tax payer funded forums where they can speak out, and yielding such forums to the right wing, because we are focusing on a one day, annual march.

There are literally dozens more, all progressive grassroots organizations and organizers. I could keep going but I have other fish to fry. I hope I've sufficiently answered your question.
Thanks for the kick.
And by the way, Women's March has organized more than just 'one and done' marching opportunities.
