The real travesties are yet to come as they destroy the social safety net, workplace protections, corporate regulations, environmental protections, collective bargaining and the New Deal and Great Society programs.
The Federalist Society hasn't spent 60 years packing the courts and law schools with corporate stooges because they are opposed to reproductive rights.
You think Mitch, or Lindsey give one fuck about abortion, or life?
All of this was on the ballot in 2016.
It's going to take decades to fix the stuff this court is going to fuck silly.
Maybe this next time, after decades and decades of hard work and bloodshed and tears and potentially, violence to get these rights back, we won't give them away so easily.

(149,648 posts)Republicans certainly do not care about abortion, or life.
What they care about is power. Getting it, and keeping it.

(4,889 posts)Our representatives, the Democrats, have to finally find the balls to do it. The Republicans must be eliminated to save democracy.

Reproductive rights are pretty low on their horrific list of priorities. Its more a means to their vile ends.

(999 posts)Too many insane people with power and influence, and a huge swath of society being turned insane as if a virus corrupted their minds. Longstanding virtues of humanity being turned into vices.

Who has bought them off? It's the only thing that makes sense -- nothing they've said so far justifies their intransigence, and their total commitment to ending the American Experiment of self-governance in the face of the Repug assault. When the GQP writes the history books they'll be lauded as patriots, right along with the Jan. 6 insurrectionists.

Trouble with being a Democrat (big D) is that we tend to be trusting of others' good intentions. And we don't learn from our mistakes.

(6,838 posts)The spirit of Edward Rutledge lives to damn us all. One cannot be too careful. Oops, we've already been quite careless, you see.
When will someone finally write a novel about the nightmarish torments and recurring guilt which R. E. Lee surely had through the late winter and spring of 1865? Title? I give you, "The Mexican Victory: I Hope Utah's Worth It".

(12,480 posts)I have no money to escape this country.
Once they take my SSI and housing away I will have nothing left to lose..I won't have my meds which will kill me because I have diabeties. My psych meds would go too.
Under fascist rule I would die. If they kill disabled people first like the Nazis did, I'm a goner.
I hope we secede before they destroy everything.
Let the republicans have their greatly desired hellscape dystopia with thier brain dead followers
In thier red states.
If we secede away from them up north we can have nice things and we'd have to build a proper wall and guard it to keep the republicans out.
Once these right-wing assholes destroy everything I love I will take as many out as I can and kill myself,as last resort. Before my own body kills me.
I hope it never comes to that.
But sometimes I wonder if it will come to that.
I fucking hate anything conservative.
