As I see so much personal belongings tossed out after Ida, I wonder what is done with them

Just going into landfill? As is? Would it make sense to compact all of them to reduce the volume?

Just asking. It is all so heartbreaking.

Dumped, piled, compacted, dumped, piled, scooped, compacted. At least the ones I've been to have these HUGE "steam rollers" with solid steel chunky-spiky wheels that roll and crush the hell out of everything in their path.
