Because it is a waste of time.

The scientist believes in facts and logic, and shapes his thinking and actions on known facts.

The non believer thinks attitude and opinion supersede all facts.

Scientists should not argue with non believers, but try to minimize the harm they do through their stupidity.

. . . . not working too well at the moment as far as COVID goes though.

It's not that science always gets things right, but that it gets things right more often than non-science.

If you try to out-guess the prevailing scientific view on an particular subject, especially if you have no scientific expertise yourself in the relevant field of study, you might occasionally be right when currently available science is wrong, but you'll much more often go wrong where the science is correct.
