Who is Janene Hoskovec? Maskless Woman Who Intentionally Coughed on Shoppers at Nebraska Grocery Store Identified as Arizona-Based IT Employee
The SAP released a statement saying it was investigating the incident involving one of its employees.
A video of a maskless woman intentionally coughing on customers at a Super Saver grocery store in Lincoln, Nebraska, is being widely circulated on social media.
The original video was shared on Reddit last week along with the title, "Anti-Mask Karen Deliberately Coughing on me at South 27th Super Saver." The video quickly spread to other social media platforms, going viral on TikTok and Twitter, where a version shared by popular account Fifty Shades of Whey has been viewed more than 2 million times.
'I'm Not Sick and Neither Are You'
The Reddit user who goes by Jessabird detailed the events that led to her pull out her cellphone and start filming. She said she was at the store with her 13-year-old daughter when the maskless "Karen" approached them and confronted them for wearing masks, saying how "Nebraskans have turned into sheep."
Jessabird said the woman then proceeded to follow the mother and daughter around the store and when she asked her to maintain social distance, the woman started coughing on them intentionally.
In the video, the woman is seen coughing multiple times in the direction of the videographer. "Excuse me, I'm coming through," the woman is heard saying as she continues to cough at the mother and daughter. The woman then says, "Look at you guys, you're so cute. ... You're such sheep."
When a fellow shopper asks her why she wasn't wearing a mask, the woman replies by saying "Because I don't need to have one on. I'm not sick and neither are you." The woman then claims she has "allergies" when confronted about coughing at the shoppers. Watch the video below:

She will be out within 72 hours I bet.

Certainly it is ethically justifiable to fire someone for engaging in harassment and assault, or doing other things that reflect badly on the company. There is no gray area here; this employee had no need to be aggressive toward innocent shoppers, let alone shoppers doing the right thing in a pandemic; they werent doing anything wrong toward her. Her employer has to wonder what this employee might do next, toward fellow employees, for example.

(44,589 posts)They can fire you for a good reason, a bad reason, or no reason at all.
They just can't fire you for an illegal reason, such as being a member of a protected class (gender, religion, race, etc.).
That's what employment at will means.

If someone stabs random people outside of work but not in work should they not be terminated from their job?
wnylib
(26,471 posts)Deliberately coughing on someone during a pandemic is an assault that could jeopardize people's health and lives.
She followed her victims in order to endanger them. That's stalking.
An unstable stalker who endangers people's lives in public is a liability to a company's customers and to their other employees.
Are you kidding me?

(9,950 posts)Fuck them, they are bringing false narratives into peoples faces, and potentially killing them. It seems to me that you would have to be a complete asshole TROLL to see no problem in using social media to do what can be done to discourage a subset of asshole from literally trying to kill those they disagree with politically.

(37,938 posts)Nebraska is an Employment at Will state. That means that the employer and the employee have equal rights to terminate employment at any time for any reason as long as no other law is being violated (i.e. Workers' Compensation, FMLA, EEOC, etc.)

Asthma causes coughing, especially allergen-induced asthma. But stalking someone and coughing in their face is a deliberate act. As someone with multiple allergies and asthma, I know that when you feel the cough coming on, you turn away from people and cover your mouth. You don't seek them out and cough at will in their face.

(9,425 posts)Her law school was a for profit school with a bar passing rate in the single digits. It was so bad, that the ABA pulled its accreditation so she is a graduate of an unaccredited law school with about a 90 percent chance that she did not pass the bar. She wrote a bunch of checks to say she graduated from law school

(9,425 posts)Smart people can learn enough to pass any test and still be stupid, but, this woman could not get into a shitty law school so she went to a for profit, really shitty law school that had an awful bar passing rate and the ABA took accreditation away from. The school was only in existence for about 10 years. I am sure a good lawyer or two graduated and passed the bar, but not many.
We only need to look at Congress to see that.

She was such a smug little bully, laughing at the strangers as she harassed them. Now she's going to whine and say that she never meant to really stalk and cough at innocent people. Now she will have to face the fact that she's nothing more than an asshole.
