I was at my doctor's yesterday and the subject of the booster came up. For what it's worth he suggested I get one because I'm 66 and have medical stuff going on. He's probably 15 years younger and a lot healthier and said he's getting one. He said getting a Pfizer after two Modernas is fine.
So I guess I'm getting one soon.

(16,838 posts)All of my shots have been Moderna. The only side effects I had were a sore arm and a small pain in my back on the same side as my shot. They went away in a couple of days, no biggie.
We had heard that the Moderna shot contained more antibodies, so my parents wanted to get the Moderna booster even though they got the Pfizer shots. They wouldn't do that for them; they had to get a Pfizer booster. I think they were just being cautious.
The Pfizer and Moderna shots are very similar and work the same way. I think your doctor is right that it wouldn't hurt anything to mix them up for the booster.

(21,264 posts)who got the Moderna shots because they were stronger doses than the Pfizer. I just added a Covid antibody test to my regular yearly blood work with the idea that may decide when to get a booster. It turns out there are a lot more factors involved than amount of antibodies.
I am waiting until the CDC or FDA says it's OK to get a booster. Speaking of which, when are we going to get someone to head the FDA?

(16,838 posts)They've probably had some candidates, but the candidates either don't want the job or it might be hard to get them approved for political reasons. Everything is politicized these days thanks to Trump.

(2,035 posts)in August. We are both 69 years old. She takes several immuno compromising meds due to medical issues. I also have medical issues. Our primary care doc told us not to wait.
1st dose was uneventful. 2nd one we were both very, very tired for a couple of days. I felt feverish, but never had an elevated temperature. 3rd one was very much like the 2nd.

(12,047 posts)6 months since last Moderna, same after effects, a little soreness in arm, a slight fever for a day. Slept the day after away, lol
The bureaucrats at the FDA move with glacial slowness, and now with the WHO sticking their noses in I figured the window was now.
The Israeli data show a steep decline after 6 months, down to 42% from protection against getting the disease.
I cant get sick from Covid.
66, diabetic, on meds for high blood pressure and was on predisone high doses for another condition. It is an immunosuppressant . I called their pharmacist to see if I was Ok to get the bosster, he said shouldnt be a problem, go ahead.
Walked in at appt time, took the shot, nothing asked on any form there, just allergy consent. 00 cost.

(44,972 posts)I was asked what condition I had, but no other proof is required, other than what you say.
Now it appears Moderna boosters for general population are going to be delayed. But immunocmpormoised are allowed them already, no problemo.
I had more of a reaction with each shot, so third one was worse than the second, and second was worse than the first.
I am assuming that means I made more antibodies with each subsequent shot.

(16,313 posts)Technically Im not eligible until November but Im hearing that not a lot of questions are being asked so Im going to go ahead and get another dose. This is a situation where I think people need to be proactive about their health.
