The President knows this will be tied up in court for months if not years. Before the cases are resolved Covid may be over.
But meanwhile all companies including Medical Companies now have a fig leaf to do what many feared to do before now; mandate a vaccine. And blame it on the President. Biden knows that. And that it will save lives.
That, folks, is what leadership looks like. No Bullshit, no fear leadership.

Not easy to second guess all that went on behind the scenes, so once again I trust what decisions he decides to make

(11,949 posts)Companies will immediately start enforcing vaccines for their employees. That, after all, is really the goal.
Best leadership decisions Ive seen in years. How many politicians would actually invite companies to blame them for doing the right thing and saving lives while pissing off lots of people. Damned few.

(11,949 posts)There are laws that mandate businesses run a safe workplace and that gives him the authority in this case.
But even I would be against a president being able to mandate I get vaccinated.

(5,858 posts)that the mandate for medical systems is even taken up by SCOTUS (unlike the 100+ employer mandate) assuming it is even challenged. CMS dictates almost everything about medical care, credentialling providers, etc. (see Joint Commission), this isn't a big change but it gives cover to admin's who are worried about retaining workers or state owned facilities in R states.

(54,770 posts)already mandating vaccines to keep employees from getting sick and avoid lawsuits for not maintaining a safe work place. But Bidens mandate probably helped some make the decision easier.
Ticks me off that so many are vaccine stupid, such that a mandate is necessary.
