Rachel is doing a story right now
about dogs who can sniff out the Covid virus with an accuracy rate in the 90%s. They are using them in the Miami airport. For now, they are using them on employees reporting for work.
My question is how long until DeSantis bans the use of them?

1. My understanding is that he isn't worried about them sniffing out covid...
but terrified they can sniff out bullshit.

2. Good one.
I know the DeSantis question sounds like a joke, but would it really surprise any of us?

6. Wow, imagine how exhausted a bullshit sniffing
dog in Florida would be? Poor thing would be smelling bullshit non stop. And put that dog at one of those CPAC or trump gatherings……….poor pup would hyperventilate and collapse from uncontrolled sinus and brain swelling.

4. I love those stories of dogs sniffing out disease
I remember a study just a few years ago where dogs were sniffing out cancer at a 99% accuracy rate. That pretty much beats out what a lab can do...

5. And this story said they are using
mixed breed rescue dogs, too.

7. Rachel reported one of the dogs has a 99.4%
accuracy rate of detecting Covid on the masks worn by people in the test population. The other dog had a slightly lower rate.

8. Did you see the segment about Idaho's solution to the COVID problem?
The legislature there is calling a special session. Their solution is to ban hospitals from mandating their doctors and nurses get vaccines. They want more COVID to overwhelm more hospitals that are already in dire straits.

10. I wonder if the insurance companies
are preventing these tests with dogs from being widespread. Seems like they wouldn't be very profitable...

12. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he tried to ban them.
He might even show old pics, during civil rights protests, of dogs being used to attack and intimidate the protestors.
Not that they're comparable at all, but it's the kind of nonsense that right-wingers do. |

13. Right now, the dogs are only being used to screen employees on the way in to work.
Does anyone know if DeSantis would have standing to tell them they can't do that?
For that matter, who owns that airport? Does DeathSantis have jurisdiction over the place, and if not, who does? |

14. Airports are federal property, so no, he would have no authority
there. But he's had all kinds of orders reversed and it hasn't stopped him from issuing more. He either doesn't have very good legal counsel or doesn't listen to them.
