(58,785 posts)that it was conventionally pretty and she looked pretty in it. As for evening's theme of vulgarity and deliberate bad taste, take a look at the wealthy patronesses. Their outfits' main statements were that they don't have to prove anything, certainly not who they are. Fashion dazzle was for those who do.

(54,410 posts)attention to galas and award shows. I am not a big 'celeb' follower at all. I also detest all royals, including ours both in the UK and here in Sweden (although Sweden's are harmless enough, I just am an arch anti-royalist).
As far as the Met Gala and AOC goes, I would hope she doesn't make it an annual thing. It served a one off purpose, I suppose, but to start going every year would be bad form for me.
Time will tell.

They both look great. It is NY Fashion Week, people are literally supposed to be noticed. That is the point. It's like going to a work conference and networking.

(54,410 posts)aesthetics and most on this board is vast indeed. Not just in terms of fashion either. It is fine, as there is little commonality in terms of our geographical and socio-cultural upbringing. To each their own.
I do agree that much of Browne's output works mostly for people with an ectomorphic body type, as it is very structural in its lines and form. I love angularity and atypical cuts, and a some non-binary projection in what I wear.
Btw, I have no clue as to what 'pronto uomo' is.

But how it's cinched around his midsection bothers me. I'm with you. Had it been tailored, it would've been fine. Even just taking it out two inches would've improved him immensely.

When they appeared at the inauguration I actually said to my husband "who is that women that they keep showing over and over again who is wearing that absolutely hideous outfit" and only later realized who it was.
Oh well, I'm just old.

Shoulda seen my Sr. prom tux-- powder blue, ruffled collar reinforced with feathered hair and a gallon of Polo cologne. Even today, I wince at the color-faded polaroid.
But, as so many critics have never worn anything that would be or could be mocked by the present or by the future, their distempers will be taken for all they are in fact, worth (e.g., "I was so annoyed by the way she dressed, I moved to the other side of the airplane." )
