I did all my errands today, and I'm not in a flood zone.

I might lose power for awhile, but I can live with that.

My house in Houston built in 1930.

It is over built.

Built off the ground, almost 3 ft.

The guy who built it survived the 1900 hurricane in Galveston.

Feels strange bring so far away.

So, we may get a few showers, nothing serious... But I worry about my friends in Houston.

DU Houstonians please stay safe and check in when you can!

"As Nicholas nears the shore we are starting to get more confidence in rainfall forecasts for tonight and Tuesday morning as the heaviest rains from the storm move through. And as a result of this we are lowering our Flood Stage alert for all but coastal counties."

Just some medium-sized branches down. I still have power. All is good.

Hurricane prep kit paying off. Plenty of gas for the genny, cases of water, tarps, and batteries in all the flash lights. Ready as we’ll ever be.

Our worst winds were last night. We're on the dry side. The only clue that there was a tropical storm passing close by was a small storm surge.

It appears that the storm has shifted to the East and this has lowered our flooding chance https://spacecityweather.com/as-nicholas-nears-we-are-lowering-our-flood-scale-alert-for-all-but-the-coast/

We are in Stage 2 flood alert which should be okay. We had no flooding during Ike or Harvey

Damn a hurricane, not sad I missed it.

Called the house and everything is ok, just some wind.

Could have been worse.
