(34,595 posts)I did all my errands today, and I'm not in a flood zone.
I might lose power for awhile, but I can live with that.

(2,962 posts)My house in Houston built in 1930.
It is over built.
Built off the ground, almost 3 ft.
The guy who built it survived the 1900 hurricane in Galveston.
Feels strange bring so far away.

(4,188 posts)Hurricane prep kit paying off. Plenty of gas for the genny, cases of water, tarps, and batteries in all the flash lights. Ready as well ever be.

(1,508 posts)Our worst winds were last night. We're on the dry side. The only clue that there was a tropical storm passing close by was a small storm surge.

(176,683 posts)It appears that the storm has shifted to the East and this has lowered our flooding chance https://spacecityweather.com/as-nicholas-nears-we-are-lowering-our-flood-scale-alert-for-all-but-the-coast/

We are in Stage 2 flood alert which should be okay. We had no flooding during Ike or Harvey

Called the house and everything is ok, just some wind.
Could have been worse.
