Is anybody else wondering what impact racism will have on the election?

Sure it didn't seem to matter much last time because it was nearly a landslide. But in a closer election wouldn't racism matter more and break against the president especially if not as many young people are voting? Come to think of it last time some people were so scared of what would happen to the economy that they'd vote for anyone with a "D" beside their name just to kick the republicans out but now I'm not so sure that's the case because things are so much better. Any thoughts on this?

If it wasn't for racism, this race wouldn't be close. Romney shouldn't be within 10 points of President Obama in the polls.

I live in Georgia. I live in a traditionally Democratic county with John Lewis as our U.S. Congressman and Jimmy Carter's grandson as our state representative.

I am struck as I drive around this area of the paucity of yard signs and bumper stickers. Where I see them, even in traditionally Republican areas, the ratio is about 10 Obama to 1 Robme.

I don't know is this is important but.....

Either the conservatives are going to vote Robme while holding their noses or they may stay home.

I think they are more likely to vote Robme while holding noses even though they are screwing themselves and their children. But who knows. This could prove telling since Mormons are, along with Papists, the most immoral on the planet when they promote pro-creation at a time when our planet cannot provide adequate drinking water, food, housing, jobs and sustenance to those already here.

I live in the southwest part of the state. Sanford Bishop is our congressman and all I see are romney/ryan yard signs even though this district is pretty blue. These repubs will turn out but when I voted the other day there wasn't really a line.

Racism shades the up hill battle it has been for the administration to just get us where we are now
Short memories and great white hopes can hinder the election
Most young and any minority are really screwing themselves IMO if they do not vote for Obama
but that is just my opinion

6. President Obama's core voters came out in record number. Without those great people, we are nothing.

WE WON in 2008 voting for the person WE wanted to vote for (President Obama).
President Obama is widely favored by women and every single minority group in America.
and Gays and Jewish voters. Together we win.

the republicantealibertarian racists can all go do what Clint Eastwood talked about when speaking to his chair.

2008 was a WE WON because we all loved our President Obama, same this time.
not a Anyone but race.

No one ever wins an anyone but race.

Thank God for Obama and the demographic change.
Thank God the other side is so stupid as to limit themselves to the angry John Birch Society type voter that is closer to David Duke than to anyone else.

Remember WE WANTED our President

When the demographic change takes hold in Texas/Arizona/Alabama/Mississippi, etc.
the red states will be no more.
2016 will be their last stand.

Be vigiliant in 14 and in 16 vote Hillary
together we win. divided we fail.

8. Racism is a reason why this election is close

If it were not for the subtle and not so subtle racist comments and actions of Faux News and right-wing talk radio, this election would be a near-landside; similar to Clinton/Dole in 1996. This media outlets are feeding the racist mindset of many of the low-information voters who listen to the O'Reilly's', Hannity's, Lindbaugh's, Savage's, et al. out there. They tell these lazy people what to think; they are either too lazy or unintelligent to investigate topics and form their own options.

I can't wait until election night when Obama/Biden will re-election by a comfortable margin. Perhaps we can even gain control of the House (wishing thinking, I know; but, we should gain a large number of seats, along with gaining Senate Seats).

I may even unblock the parental controls we have on the Faux News Channel to watch them cry and sulk.

9. Not that it will cost Obama the election or anything, but...

we have more than our fair share of racists in southeastern ohio, where I live part-time when not in columbus; We do have people who would vote for Obama if he were white.

It's probably a wash because Obama also draws increased turnout from urban neighborhoods, black and latino, and college voters.

But overall I'm really optimistic. People like my mom and aunt who voted for McCain and Bush (because of "God&quot are switching to Obama because they want some Obamacare.

Being able to go to the doctor trumps the God's orders I guess.

On the other hand there is coal and natural gas propaganda everywhere - on yard signs, bumper stickers, TV ads, full page ads in the newspapers. They say Proud Coal Families Vote to Stop Obama. President Obama: STOP the war on coal families! (then shows a picture of a sooty coal miner with his little daughter standing next to him looking scared). This place is weird I want out.

Just for example - This shit is everywhere:

this election wouldn't even be close. Since their fiscal policies suck for a vast majority of Americans, the GOP relies on wedge issues in order to get the bigots to support them.
