The ignorance of a large percentage of our population is depressing

Was watching CBS Sunday Morning which had a segment on the fictional town of Mayberry N C. from the Andy Griffith show. Ted Koppel traveled to the Mt Airy N C, upon which Mayberry was modeled. Ted interviewed people on a tour bus and they were almost unanimous in support of the traitor Trump and claimed that Biden was not legally elected. They also said the attack on the Capital was staged. One woman wondered why all the focus on the attack on the Capital when there are cities all over the country being burned down every night. Another blamed Black Lives Matter for the “staged” assault on Washington.
It is clear that the right wing media has done tremendous damage to this country by turning ordinary citizens into ignorant zombies. It is depressing an makes me pessimistic about our future

And that's listening to the part of the population right here in California who sound like those in Mt Airy.

One of my favorite shows is Andy and Barney and I in no way think that was ever "real". I am also a life long Democrat raised in a union household that welcomed anyone who is hungry to the table.... and if they could not get to the table we took them food.

I might even be persuaded to someday go visit Mt. Airy NC but if I'm on that bus there won't be a lot of yammer about how lucky we are to have TFG. Everyone who I cared what they think of me is dead. When some nitwit starts yammering that kind of way I'll be one quite loudly say my favorite episode is the one where the goat eats dynamite and then look at my neighbor and say, what's yours.

12. Dishonest, mass depravity masquerading as ignorance is scary.

This isn't just ignorance. This is the kind of pathological movement, made up of the same kinds of people, that elected Hitler.

The seemingly innocent ignorance of many about what they're part of is a huge factor in what's happening. But that they choose to beieve long strings of outrageous lies that always empower bad and always oppose and even attack good people trying to stop them does not spring from innocent ignorance. Stupidity and gullibility alone do not explain why they can recite "over 98%" of people don't die of Covid, but cannot do the math for their remaining 2%.

And they only rely on news they pick.

I guess Ted Koppel is now a fake news person?

Ironically Andy Griffith was a Democrat who endorsed President Obama in 2008!

14. Our thinking and perceptions are the result of each person's Mind and Mind is not tied to brain

activity. Research and verifications show that Mind can see without eyes, hear without ears, pass through walls and floors and function when the host has no brain capability, plus survive death.

I put it to the influence of each person's soul, but I don't think that's provable...just my own personal experience.

When I see all the ignorance and malevolence, I see all the qualities that brain by itself accounts for. The brain, whose basic purpose is survival, also encompasses ego...and that's a problem. Ego doesn't give a hoot for the happiness or welfare of others... demands personal comfort, accolades, power, status, revenge. Not one single negative action ever was inspired by soul. Souls know they all came from the same Source, so we're all family...soul doesn't see race, religion, nationalities.

We're as materialistic, chauvinistic, hedonistic now as in the days of Rome. No major religion has affected us for the better...truth can be found in scripture's parables, but no one cares to discover them. It's a shame.

I was appalled at what those people were saying. Granted, I don't come in contact very much if at all with those types of people, so maybe it shocked me because of that. First of all I am so tired of having to hear what these people think. Why did Ted Koppel have to even start that conversation? He and others in the media are a huge part of the problem. Stop giving these idiots a platform to spew their nonsense.

The women on the bus who kept saying "I just love President Trump. I just love that man." Made me want to hurl.

For what it's worth, I used to live in NC and have been to small towns there, so I'm not surprised. The one woman who said she's tired of having people think of Southerners as "idiots" - her words. Well, all I can say is if the shoe fits...

I've lost all hope that this will ever get any better in my remaining years on this earth. I will keep avoiding these people like the plague. There is no room in my life for that sort of ignorance. I grew up watching Andy Griffith. I grew up in a small town myself. Even as a kid I knew this was just a TV show. These people are so stupid they really think that was life in the small towns in NC. Koppel only barely touched on what life was like for the African Americans in those small towns.
