(30,723 posts)The workers never know what their schedules are going to be, how much theyre going to make etc. they just get pushed around. Cracks me up when employers say they cant find people to fill their jobs

The staff of the two local warehouses would be happy to welcome this hero to the team. Especially in electronics (occasionally unstaffed when I visit).

I was always afraid of burning bridges. I admire the woman from Walmart, and hope she finds a better job asap.

(12,134 posts)I had a smart, hard-working friend (sadly now deceased) who got treated like garbage there.
Shed drive a long way to do her shift, and a couple of times a week theyd tell her, Oh, we dont need you today after all.
And theyd always make sure she was just a few hours shy of qualifying for full-time benefits like paid time off and health insurance. She was just one of many getting the same kind of treatment. Truly a toxic work situation.
Ive shopped there twice in my life, both times when I had a minor automotive emergency in an area where that was the only option for buying a battery or a tire. Hope to stay out of there the rest of my life.

(6,703 posts)The fall of Wal-Mart would hurt us all terribly. Even lethally. Perhaps gradual rehabilitation could bring about reform without disaster. But that would require a firm and thoughtful hand at the helm. Fat chance!
First we need to find the helm.......... Then build a scaffold for executing abusive Wal-Mart managers. The threat alone should inspire some civility and respect for associates.

(6,703 posts)They ran all the competition off just about everywhere Americans lived. They did so by undercutting ALL their competition. Much of America is TOTALLY addicted to their proximity and prices. Cold turkey will kill us. So until there are other sources there is nothing to do about them These facts don't change because the Waltons are pigs.

(20,044 posts)I don't see the company going anywhere, but they are going to have to pay and treat their hourly workers better if they want to keep them.

(4,968 posts)Keeps the politicians in your corner and then you help create a society where there is nothing to do but work for the 'masters' or starve... why pay better? Why treat your grunts like human beings? When the middling people have no choice, the elite don't have to do squat.

(3,425 posts)Tell the employer that advice. They seem to be creating the problem. Walmart does seem to have the reputation as one of the least least employee friendly employers in general, although I am sure there are exceptions to that sentiment sometimes.
