My daughter was scheduled to have her pregnancy

induced October 1 which is two weeks before her due date. Due to the nursing shortage as well as shortage of hospital “rooms” she may or may not have the procedure done on the 1st.

She has had high blood pressure throughout the pregnancy hence the need for inducement.

Currently her blood pressure is lower and we aren’t too concerned but thought I would share this instance of how the overcrowding of hospitals is affecting our family.

separate from the main hospital. I hope that might be the case for your daughter as those facilities have been better able to maintain distinctly separate staffing and lowered risk for patients and staff--thereby making it more likely their services can continue with fewer impacts.

Older hospitals may still have the old integration of these units within the wider hospital themselves. If that is the case, you are more likely to face issues with scheduling the induction sans a critical emergency event.

I wish your daughter and your family the best. This is a tough time to be pregnant and I sincerely hope she is vaccinated. To a very health baby and grandchild and a smooth delivery for mom and child.

My granddaughter was born a year ago in June, before vaccines. My daughter also had high blood pressure. It went well, a little early. My daughter got out the hospital within 24 hours. She did not want either of them to be exposed to covid. Best wishes to all of you.

Here in Phabulous Phlorida I have an elective surgery scheduled for mid-October...it was supposed to have been three months ago. No problem waiting in my case, though.

required to be vaccinated (NM our gov has been on this Covid stuff). She got very sick… 9 day fever… but did well with second shot. Getting the vaccine was absolutely the right move. Her first baby our first grandbaby… very tough time for pregnancies.

Thankful your daughter and granddaughter were ok!

I have various issues with my ears and just before covid became completely deaf in one ear over about six months. My other ear is having problems but I can't get a surgical appointment due to COVID, so it slowly declines without intervention. I also cannot get a cochlear implant in my bad ear which would help significantly if my good ear crapped out.

My second step-granddaughter turned one in August. The baby's mother stayed home from her job as long as her leave lasted, then my ex, the baby's grandmother, took over daily care while the parents work five days a week. Even though care is in the home, I worry all the time she will get the virus, since children that young are unable to be vaccinated. Even as I am only peripheral to their household I could get the virus myself, give it to my ex, since she has to stay in my house, and she could infect the baby. Her wife could also get sick and it get to the baby that way. Either of the parents could get it and bring it home from work. It's just scary.

work. She’s a high school science teacher. The baby will have protection through my daughter’s vaccinations. But everything is so new regarding the virus I believe she will be ultra careful with the baby. Like your ex, I will also babysit here at my house depending on what Fall 2022 looks like.
Your daughters family is fortune to have such a supportive family. I hope you all stay safe.
