With the US allowing Meng to go back to China, the Chinese government has now released the two Canadian men, being held by China in retaliation. Canada was holding Weng on behalf of the US on a warrant issued by Trump but it was Canadian citizens that paid the price. Trudeau worked with Biden and they are on a plane home!!!

(26,366 posts)1. I think you mean "Meng" (Meng Wanzhou)....
"on a warrant issued by Trump"
President's don't issue warrants. The warrant was issued by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
Here is the statement from U.S. Attorneys Office Eastern District of New York on Meng's release:
https://www.justice.gov/usao-edny/pr/huawei-cfo-wanzhou-meng-admits-misleading-global-financial-institution
Excerpt:
Under the terms of the DPA, Meng has agreed to the accuracy of a four-page statement of facts that details the knowing false statements she made to Financial Institution 1. Meng also has agreed not to commit other federal, state, or local crimes. If Meng breaches the agreement, she will be subject to prosecution of all of the charges against her in the third superseding indictment filed in this case. The government also agreed to withdraw its request to the Ministry of Justice of Canada that Meng be extradited to the United States.

If there is any doubt why China arrested those 2 Canadians it should be clear now.
