(4,915 posts)in 2014. We had been prior to that to Tuscany and since that time have also explored Amalfi Coast, Umbria, and, our favorite region after Rome, Piemonte. Our last Rome trip was in April 2019 for two weeks. We had a fabulous 3 week trip planned to go back to Piemonte and also spend time around the Lakes but had to cancel when Covid hit. And we still have so many regions to visit.
Our goal is to get back there in 2022. Have to wait for my husband's next treatment to be done so he can get revaccinated - and then we are definitely getting there, come hell or high water!
Have a wonderful trip and enjoy every minute of that special country.

(1,613 posts)Rome, Sorrento, Florence, Bologna, Milan and Sardinia have been a few of our haunts.
Venice has been a solid return destination - but only in the off-season or when the water is high. Just buy a cheap pair of wellingtons for 10 and leave them there when you depart.
Il Sereno in Torno on Lake Como was perhaps the finest hotel we have ever stayed. Three nights felt like an entire week.
Can't wait to get back there - anywhere.
