In post presidential time his Carter Foundation has all but eliminated the
scourge of Guinea Worms from the world.

Republicans like to make a big deal out of their generally bogus claims to be Christians. Carter, a man most of them despise, actually is one.

(9,423 posts)He was unafraid to tell Americans what they needed to hear, not what they wanted to hear. He did so by calling Americans to our society's poisonous materialism in the erroneously tagged Malaise Speech.
How did Americans react? They vilified Carter and flocked to the shallow and selfish bromides offered by Reagan. They opted for death.
