I visited Yosemite and the Sequoia National Park this Summer. I felt like I was saying goodbye. It sucks!

Chances of meaningful action on climate? - even WITH the visible effects?
zero.zero...

We are already past the point of prevention and the runway on mitigation is getting shorter by the second...and our democratic party is stuck on placating DINOs and laying the groundwork to be blamed for everything in about 3...2...1...

If you are planning to be alive 25-30 years from now, I hope you are a survivalist with a clean river, property and a will to live because by 2055, this is going to be an enormous shit show. I have already apologized to my kids and beg them NOT to have grandkids, because THAT generation is going to be well and truly fucked from cradle to early graves.

In all honesty, I see a lot of speeches tonight about priorities and policies and pre-K and blah-blah-blah...None of it matters and the principles KNOW it.

I have to say, whenever I consider plans to expand medical benefits and money for elderly people, a part of me now goes ... is that REALLY what we should be doing? Trying to get everyone living longer? Does this jibe with my values when it comes to the environment?

Some days, I'm really not sure it does.

Same goes for letting people migrate into the 1st world ... from 2nd/3rd world countries. It's virtually inevitable that people making this move will increase their carbon footprint, in many cases DRASTICALLY. I like being nice and all, but at some point this equation needs to be considered.

It sucks to even talk like this but as a World we've waited way too freaking long, and I think it's likely that even us nice liberal people are going to be forced into adopting some ... untoward positions in the not-too-distant future.

I shudder to think what's going to happen once the bona-fide assholes on the other side of the aisle ... finally collectively admit that ACC is a real thing that needs to be addressed. Because what I just wrote? Is NOTHING compared to what the average RePuQ would decide needs to be done.
