(51,590 posts)Women are protesting in hundreds of US cities tomorrow, ahead of the SCOTUS vote next week on abortion. This is good because it means people are standing up and fighting back.

(32,852 posts)We cant let the perfect be the enemy of doing something that is still HISTORICAL for the American people. Ive seen what all the major players have said tonight. Theyre all working. Even from their home districts. I think President Biden advanced the ball significantly today.

(15,031 posts)from Treblinka by way of Theresienstadt. She told me one day her life in sunshine was made possible by her capacity to love.
She and her husband, Viktor (who had also passed through the death factories), never had children of their own but instead adopted little ones who had been brutalized by life. For example, her son, my friend Ron, had been torched as a babe by his drug-addled mother. Another child, a daughter, was abandoned by her birth parents because she had an incurable disorder that took her life at 15.
And through it all, Sarah tried to make sense of the world and of what she had endured by giving freely of her love. So much had been taken, so very much denied, yet she found the capacity to make the world better, even if it was only within the confines of her small family and its duration admittedly ephemeral.
Everywhere I look in the world it is with hope. Having known and loved Sarah, what other option do I have?

(22,063 posts)The best time of the year! Red, gold, and orange leaves twirling down from the trees, cooler temperatures so it feels good to be outside, the smell of wood smoke. I picked all the little pumpkins in the garden yesterday.
Take a walk in the woods, and soak in the heavenly scent of evergreens on a crisp morning. Look for wildlife busy getting ready for winter.
Forget politics for awhile.

She sleeps under my pillow. Just being able to hear her purr and be near is priceless therapy,

(20,577 posts)politics was not the first thing on your mind. There are so many other things in life, and there are plenty of needs that can be taken care of. Most of what we read about is really out of our hands so try to occupy yourself with things you can do something about - creative, community, etc. just taking a break from it all.
