NEW YORK Former President Donald Trump has asked a federal judge in Florida to force Twitter to restore his account, which the company suspended in January following the deadly storming of the U.S. Capitol.
Trumps attorneys on Friday filed a motion in U.S. District Court in Miami seeking a preliminary injunction against Twitter and its CEO, Jack Dorsey. They argue that Twitter is censoring Trump in violation of his First Amendment rights, according to the motion.
Twitter declined to comment Saturday on Trumps filing.
The company permanently banned Trump from its platform days after his followers violently stormed the Capitol building to try to block Congress from certifying Joe Bidens presidential win. Twitter cited concerns that Trump would incite further violence. Prior to the ban, Trump had roughly 89 million followers on Twitter.

(70,483 posts)Trump still has his 1st Amendment right to free speech but that does not mean that Twitter
has to give him a platform. I hope Trump's attorneys are getting their money up front because
this will be laughed out of court.
BTW it is schadenfreudely delicious know at this very minute Trump is feeling like shit because
he can't post anything on Twitter.
He can't control the second coup attempt without Twitter. He can't rule without Twitter. He can't hire stand-ins to speechify without the hidden Twitter. Oh my, what will he do...

I imagine it as a chilling final turn of the plot. His world is coming to an end. He will never have another good day. Loser label will haunt him. The law will pursue him. Mental illness will hobble him. His properties will bankrupt him.
