They just want to talk about Democrats in disarray but silent on women marching who are on our side.

(1,609 posts)There is no CNN or MSNBC. There was very little coverage yesterday. Only miserable people look for reasons to be rude.

(269,237 posts)This march should have been covered live with reporters in all the states.
And he is correct re their live show and coverage of the empty stage during the rain and even reporters showing up in the dressing rooms of performers to keep THEIR show going.
It is all about fucking priorities and women don't fucking count for much.

When it comes to the majority of Americans, they get local coverage, yes; front page or national prime time coverage, no.
Thanks for your clarification.

(1,954 posts)When even social media fails to pick it up, what can you do, honestly? All it takes is like, 200 updoots to hit front page on Reddit and apparently that wasn't enough.

(9,146 posts)I noticed the no Reddit thing as well. I'd completely forgotten it was even a thing.
What I did see didn't seem like very many people were showing up. Even our local protest corner, where there are always people about (BLM and anti-AAPI hate mostly), was completely empty yesterday. In major cities, sure, got a few thousand here and there.
Sometimes things just don't catch on.

(21,461 posts)Why did MSNBC fire these people who had high ratings, it wasn't about money; Keith Olbermann, Martin Brashear, Dylan Ratigan?
Dylan Ratigan was my favorite, he was passionate. He was explaining all about crony capitalism when he was axed, in near tears he said goodbye.

(21,461 posts)Chris, and Nicolle put a progressive slant on the narrative. Think about it, where is the outrage from CNN and MSNBC that the GQP has become an anti-democratic party? One of the 2 parties has gone off the rails and we still do comparisons between the parties.
There is only 1 pro-democratic party and yet we give the coup party a big voice on cable news, we give a big voice to MF45 who led the coup.
I have posted this many times before, this is what I posted when Obama was president; Fox News says that president Obama beats his wife, CNN says it needs more information, and MSNBC says no he doesn't. All 3 networks are giving a voice to president Obama beats his wife.
Here is proof that cable news sways us with propaganda, I am the only person, here on DU, who calls Trump's border wall what it really is, a fence. Code words are used all of the time, it is a subtle piece of the propaganda. The only topic being talked about in president Biden's Build Back Better Bill is the cost, 3.5 trillion, why is that?
Go on Sirius radio and listen to Stephanie Miller and Thom Hartmann and others and see the difference between cable news and real news.

(17,066 posts)where Women's Marches were planned. Some of my friends attended a local march, another attended a march in Columbus, Ohio. Both put pictures on fb. Had good turnouts for both of them.
But news won't cover civil protest against uncivil laws.
Karma13612
(4,555 posts)To cover it because instead of millions, it was only 100s of thousands attending.
I am not saying I agree with this philosophy, just that that is what I read somewhere. They were saying it was not as well attended.
MineralMan
(146,339 posts)CBS News, both national and local, covered the marches, both the one in DC and the ones in the local areas of affiliate station. Here in Minnesota, WCCO had good coverage of the march in the Twin Cities, and a Google News search turns up coverage in many cities by the local media.
NBC and ABC also covered the marches on their regular news programs.
So, it is incorrect to imply that "No US media covered the women's march."
You didn't see the coverage, apparently, but maybe you weren't watching for it. MSNBC and CNN aren't really hard news outlets. Instead, they broadcast commentary 24/7. Did you watch every program on those cable networks? I doubt it very much.
If you actually watch news on television, you'll find it on the three alphabet networks, morning, evening, and late night. All of those news programs covered the marches to some degree. Local affiliates covered the marches where they are, but the national network news programs covered the DC march specifically.
You don't like ABC, CBS and NBC? Well, a huge majority of people who watch any news at all get their news on those broadcast networks. Each of them overwhelmingly beats the cable news networks in viewership. Together, they simply swamp the ratings, compared to cable news programming.
Perhaps you are not watching the news, but only commentary on the news.

(51,646 posts)I observed the same thing. There were 8,000-10,000 protesters at my march but the local news said only a few thousand showed up. I heard about the march in the MSM only one time in the last 4 weeks.

(12,643 posts)towards cnn every month could instead be used to buy an on-line subscription to the NYT, Washington Post and / or a generous contribution to their local NPR (radio) station. None of them are liberal mouthpieces, and all are flawed, but they did, and do, report on issues of interest to progressives and even do in depth investigative reporting. They ADD something to the discussion, instead of just feeding on it. And yes, they all covered the d.c. and local marches.

(58,785 posts)No? NPR had this: "Front-line workers in several U.S. cities walked off their jobs and took to the streets to demand racial and economic justice." I'd posted here ahead of time, but the big, corporate-owned media preferred it didn't exist, so it basically didn't. Crickets.
