It provides a platform for people to instantly broadcast whatever thought pops into their heads that they thought was clever at the time - the kind of tasteless wisecrack a not especially thoughtful person might make in private conversation. But Twitter gives people a chance to let the whole world see their inner asshole and show that they are assholes all over.
