A 55-year-old man shot and killed a coworker inside Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia before taking off in a U-Haul, shooting two officers and being struck by police returning fire.

About 12:08 a.m. Monday, police received calls from Jefferson Hospital of a report of a shooter on the ninth floor.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw spoke to reporters just after 4 a.m. outside Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where the suspect and the two officers were taken.

We’ve had two workplace shootings in less than two days here in Philly.

Quite frankly I’m surprised that it doesn’t happen more often.

MDs performed a miraculous surgery 6 hrs after I was born.
I remember my mother taking me back to visit the doctor who saved my life years later.

CONSEQUENCES! We must have them as well! The kind that have teeth. The kind that will help deter this insanity. (Not holding my breath though.)

Consequences with teeth are essential at this point. A slap on the wrist does nothing!!! AND enforce "No one is above the law!"

The suspect apparently had on "body armor" and also supposedly had a "long gun" (that one outlet claimed may have been an AR-15).

(ETA - the channel 6 article notes the thing about an "AR-15" )

The oddest thing here is this name: "Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw"

Straight from a 1970s Dirty Harry movie.
