Do I need the flu shot now, or should I wait?

If you go to this weekly gov. map it will help you decide. Currently, it looks like now is the time if you live in Wyoming.
I try to wait until late Oct. to get mine as they tend to lose strength over time. If you were to get one in Sept. you might still catch the flu in April.
I'm keeping a watch on this map.

What are your plans?

I'm not an expert, but a few years back, I got the flu shot in Sept and did catch it in April. It did turn out to be a mild case.

2. I'm 75, and I got mine last week. Didn't even feel it. I was more worried

about picking the bug up at this time of year than in the Spring. I'm due to get the Covid booster in about 2 weeks. Now, I'd like to get immunized against the Christmas bullshit.

I've always rubbed the injection site vigorously for a few minutes after I get the shot. May or may not be why I don't have a reaction.

To get the best coverage, the recommendation is to get it at the end of October....If the vaccine matches the yearly strain, you should be covered until April. By the time April hits, flu activity is waning.

8. I got the Rona 3rd shot last week. I was told to wait a month before getting the flu shot.

Not quite related to the purpose of your question but it settled the question for me.

I also have peculiar insurance. I get $50 from my insurance company for getting the flu shot. Another $50 forgetting an annual eye exam and another $50 for getting an annual physical.

.. I got it about 2 weeks after i got my covid booster. I have never had the flu..got the shot last year and this year so IF I got sick, flu could be ruled out.

after my two COVID shots. I have a great doctor and I follow her instructions on all test and shots.

12. My primary care physician reccommends waiting until late Oct or early Nov to be sure max ...

protection for the late winter/early spring flu season. Other than a few years ago when the vaccine was wrong for the strain that I got, it's worked well.

14. Getting mine through my employer on Wednesday.

Still waiting on guidance about the COVID booster — I got Moderna back in April. I imagine it will probably follow the Pfizer guidelines, which means I’m not eligible yet. But I think I would feel safer with a booster.

20. I've done the Shingles and the Covid booster (Pfizer) shots and after 2 weeks the flu shot

The shingles shot laid me low, very tired. The Covid booster, like the orignal 2 shots, was a breeze. I am hopeful that the flu shot will be fine and I am having it late enough to last me w/o another in spring.
