I received this notice from my bank this morning:
New USPS service standards may add delivery time for important documents and payments.
Have you heard?
The United States Postal Service (USPS) has revised its service standards for certain First-Class Mail items, adding one to two additional days for mail traveling longer distances. These changes take place beginning October 1.
Please keep this in mind for anything we send to you, or that you may send to us, via mail. This may include monthly statements and payments, to name a few.
The Republican Party is essentially a wrecking ball brazenly destroying our government.

The founding fathers would be appalled at what Dejoy is doing.

(1,096 posts)its unbelievable that he hasn't been fired and prosecuted for the destruction of government property.
I truly do not understand how one person can be allowed to destroy a centuries old institution that the country depends on.

(42,736 posts)They are hoping the public will take their wrath out on the USPS
when in reality it should be directed at Dejoy and the (R)s.

(152 posts)Could the job description of Postmaster be changed to something else? Like cleaning the toilets or something? Then we could create a new position with a different title that would resume his former responsibilities.

(3,941 posts)It's what he does. I still hold that fker should at the very least, be personally responsible to pay for the replacement of the multi-million dollar machines he ordered destroyed so Traitor Tot would "win" reelection. Hanging is too good for him.

(1,096 posts)I agree he would probably continue his pattern of destruction.
'at the very least, be personally responsible to pay for the replacement of the multi-million dollar machines he ordered destroyed' - for sure. Replacement of those machines should definitely be on him and not the taxpayers/USPS customers. But I think our expectations should go beyond 'least' and he should be held accountable (imprisoned) for attempting to destroy that institution.

(54,770 posts)don't need to be delivered in a day or two. Those that do, can be sent by USPS at a slightly higher cost, but still less than UPS, FedEx, etc.
The banks, etc., could also mail out those documents, that can't be sent by email, and packages a day or two earlier.

(9,958 posts)At one time, the USPS offered basic banking services, and it could again. Imagine how much money poor people could save if they could cash their paychecks for free at a post office instead of paying a percentage to a payday lender. And how about regulating bank fees for those who do have bank accounts but constantly face fees for overdrafts because the banks require three days for a paycheck to clear after the depositthree days poor people cant access their money when they may need it to feed their families or they access the money and pay an overdraft fee. Never mind that in the age of electronic money movement, the banks likely have the money within hours or no more than a day!
The unregulated free market is not a friend of most people, especially poor people.

(13,565 posts)Biden has appointed three diverse new board members and they are senate confirmed.
Board chair Ron Bloom, Trump stooge, will end his HOLDOVER term Dec. 8, and Biden will appoint someone to fill that seat.
A majority of the board of governors will then be Dem appointed, and DeJoy can be fired for cause (corruption?)
Help is on the way.
It will take some time to undo DeJoy's evil changes. But help is on the way.

(13,079 posts)Yesterday I mentioned it to some others in town and they all agreed service is getting worse.
I saw this too from the union:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna1280505
letters, packages and magazines traveling longer distances could take up to five days to get to their intended destinations, instead of two or three.
DeJoy has made clear he wants more mail delivered by truck, instead of air.
The problem with that system is that there are not enough truck drivers, said Karol.
Were moving mail to surface transportation centers and there arent enough drivers who can move that mail. They wait until trucks are 100 percent loaded and that could take days before they dispatch it.
