(34,095 posts)I checked mine a while ago to talk to a friend, we both have had a bad diagnosis and are comparing our treatments and keeping each other calm and smiling. I guess I will just have to send a text or hey....I might even give her a call!
My FB is so lovely and clean, all RW crap is gone. I will miss it and a lot of people if it does not return(it will) but until then the quiet is nice!

(8,867 posts)yeah, mine is clean too. It will be back.

(33,643 posts)If so, you should be able to reach them telepathically over great distances. Just picture their face and what you mean to say to them. It totally works, we're all a hive mind now

(9,533 posts)getting comments from the public on news issues of importance.
I don't want to see it destroyed, but do think they need to do a lot better about blocking misinformation or at least labeling it as such.
I also enjoy conversing with our readers, hearing their views, and often learning of breaking news stories in our community from FB friends and followers such as storm damage, fires etc.
It's also helpful for keeping in touch with friends and family who live far away.
The crazies will just find a new and worse place to congregate if FB goes away.

(25,126 posts)I do follow Justin Lum out of Phoenix because he has done a great job in-depth on the Lori Vallow case.
But he has done more in-depth, which is easier to follow on FB.
I'm sure he posts on twitter too..

(15,265 posts)prompted on of I want to see more content of this type or (no block this type of content) I forget the exact wording. Do any time I got some rabid right wing post I would alert on it and answer that I do not want want to see similar content. As a result I really don't see much if any questionable content. If I do I am not shy about responding and alerting/blocking and of unfriending.

Which, if true, considering the scale is going to be a massive pain in the rear to fix. Someone with the knowledge has to go there and manually plug into the routers and bring them back up in a coordinated way which shares the load so as not to create a DDOS crash.
What a crappy way to start your week out.

(25,126 posts)Why would FB do this on a Monday morning at noon?
Why wouldn't they do this in the middle of the night?

(7,341 posts)FB this morning was actually a very good thing though, because I learned there that physicist professor Brian Cox is coming to my town next year for a lecture. So I'm excited about that he's my favorite science advocate after Carl Sagan.

(15,798 posts)runs with facebook. Can't say that I'm missing the hair-on-fire remarks in this red neighborhood in a blue state.
That said, there are a couple of folks who are only reachable via facebook messenger, and we were trying to set a meetup for this week, so that's a bit frustrating.

While Facebook did not go into further detail on the cause of the outage, experts said on Twitter that it appeared to be a problem with the companys domain-name system.
