"Entitlement spending" should be "False Entitlement spending".
Entitlement simply means that someone is owed something. I am working for my employer. My employer is entitled to my labor according to the contract we made. I am entitled to my salary and benefits. As I have been paying into Social Security, I am entitled to retirement benefits from SSA.
If I said, "I am entitled to a million dollars because I am awesome" THAT is a "False sense of entitlement".
When people say that "Americans are entitled to healthcare as a right" it is debatable but it cannot be simply dismissed as a false sense of entitlement. It is a debate worth having, one in which the wealthy have tried to condition the rest of us to think that "the poor are mooching off the rest of you" when the reality is that the wealthy have managed to enact laws and social policies that divert a significant part of the "fruits of collective labor" to themselves. A small number of people in this country hold half of the assets of the country, while the rest of us have to divvy up the other half. To make it more simple. I would say that about 1 million (probably generous) people in this country own 50% of everything this country produces, the other 329 million of us, have to split only 50% between us. The wealthy think they are "entitled" to all of the wealth. All of it. THAT is false entitlement.
