The more I read this word on DU, the more this came to mind... https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/The_Omega_Glory_(episode)

Star Trek: TOS had a jingoistic episode called 'The Omega Glory". Ignoring the disease immunity plot that revolved around the other Captain, the world they were on had Asian looking Kohms vs the savage (and white, and blond) Yangs. The other capt. backed the Kohms, while Kirk sympathized with the Yangs. Toward the end, someone said the word 'freedom'. The Yang leader said it was a worship word, exclusive to them, and brought in a stars and stripes flag and a copy of their holy text, the first few words of which they prounounce "E Pablista". Yada yada, Kirk fights the other captain and wins while Spock gets the leader's babe to give him a communicator so they can get help. Kirk takes the text and explains he didn't understand because they said it wrong. The words are "We the People..."

The Yangs (Yanks) can't read anymore, they don't understand the basis of their beliefs or culture. It became a religion, reduced to pure tribalism, defining them solely by their enemity to the Kohms (Communists). Sound familiar?

Freedumb is their worship word.

Here's this world that was so like Earth they had a declaration of independence? I'd say the same thing about the Roman episode. At least the Nazi culture from another episode was shared with them by terrans instead of being an independant parallel development.

And even as a kid I could see how it was america patting itself on the back. And they appropriated the 'noble savage' role, when we were less than honorable to our own natives.
