(7,413 posts)Eggs don't have souls either. You can flush any of that stuff as you see fit.
Only human zygotes are imparted by God with that magical essence that we are all so concerned with.
If you are a lowly zygote from one of the other millions of species of animals on Earth, well it sucks to be you. No soul for you! Those can be flushed as well. If the fish in the sea or birds in the air are lucky enough to make it to term, they will be dominated by us. Humans rule, fish and birds drool!

(32,634 posts)... that the soul doesn't enter the body until the baby draws its first breath.
In other words, the baby isn't a human being until after a live birth.
There's no scientific proof either way - that's the thing.
It's what many people believe and none of us can prove.

(5,123 posts)We are questioned and cajoled to not do so. I have had fibroids since my teens. The older I got, the more painful they got. At one point, I was in hell for 3 weeks out of the month, every month.
When my son was around 5yrs old, I told my GYN that I wanted a hysterectomy. He told me No! Said I had only one child , was too young and I would regret if I did it. I couldnt believe he was trying to make this decision for me. My son is 29 yrs old now, I did not want other children then or at any other time in my life.
Fibroids run in my family. Almost all the women eventually had hysterectomies. I knew in my 20s that I did not want to live with the hell of fibroids. I wasnt as confident as I am today and I let him take this choice from me and spent most of my life with the misery of fibroids. Not sure why there is an expectation that women are supposed to be baby factories and the same is not expected of men.

(113,279 posts)Tubal ligation. Or hysterectomy. If your age,, times the number of children you had, was not greater than 120, you could not get one. Who arrived at this "rule", and by what criteria, was never explained.
Women are, in their eyes, only here to be brood mares. We are not human, we have no other function. A sick and twisted view that is once again in ascendance.

(23,975 posts)I have 2 kids. I would have had to wait until I was 61 to get permanent sterilization, by which time it would have been irrelevant.
Obviously a "rule" devised by men.

(3,573 posts)3 decades ago, There was essentially a 48 hour waiting period. I had an appointment with the doctor who explained the proceedure. Asked since my child was young if I had any worries about not having more.
THE day of I got a short video describing the procedure and emphasizing the permanence of it.
I think most of that was so I wouldn't/couldn't sue if I wanted to change my mind after having it done.
