He's not going to run. He's only going to tease it as long as he can because it's part of the grift. He's not going to run because he can't handle the label of "LOSER" again.
Mark my words. It's not happening.
Honestly, I'd be surprised if he lives that long. The shame of losing is taking more of a toll than we know.

(19,224 posts)He'll grift till the bitter end and then leave the GOP hung out to dry.
If they're able to pull their heads out of their hateful butts, they'll get rid of him sooner rather than later.
The big donors will continue to pull away, as Griffin did today, and as others have earlier this year, and the leaders of the Republican Party are going to see the writing on the wall when it comes to Trump, if they haven't already. I think they're just letting him do whatever damage he can for now.

(54,770 posts)even if he enters primaries, hell drop out. Unfortunately, another just as vile GOPer will likely get nomination.

(9,998 posts)I'm sure there will be enough suckers who send him money, to make it worth his while.
But he has only a slightly better chance of getting the nomination, as you or I do.

(32,075 posts)He can get away with teasing, but the second he commits, all those donations have to go toward his campaign, rather than into his pocket.

(9,998 posts)There is NO CHANCE he even has the possibility of going to jail.
This is America, and we don't do that accountability shit here.

(22,462 posts)And your point about being humiliated is a good one. He would be coming into this next election behind and I think he hates that. Plus with all the lawsuits and investigations coming out - I think he is done....put a fork in him

(32,596 posts)However that won't stop him from "testing the waters."
In other words, he'll want to know if he can still have a campaign with rallies, free-TV time and fund-raising. Those are the only things he cares about. He already knows he'll never have another Twitter army.

(14,085 posts)And losing, again, is an even bigger grift. You get the picture.

If trump is indicted he may run, claim the indictment is political persecution and grift to line his pockets. Wouldn't be surprised if he tried to slow down any prosecution by claiming that as an former president he can't be prosecuted.
Absurd, hell yes, but were talking about trump.

(28,320 posts)the way to the end. The prospect of violence is exciting to him and he would accept any means to return to power - Hell, he probably dreams about Vladimir coming to give him his seat back - any means other than one where he must face the prospect of losing again.

(111,052 posts)...that will jump off a cliff for him. They do not believe anything from the mainstream media, unless it comes thru their Dear Leader. And as we know, he is not beyond inciting violence for his own interests. He doesn't give a crap about America. He proved it.

(204,782 posts)Which I still believe was his aim from the beginning. I don't think he actually wanted the job and we know he never did it, but he'd run out of moneymaking grifts (Trump steaks, Trump vodka and the infamous Trump University) so asking for campaign donations was his next big idea. And he discovered he enjoyed the attention, so instead of doing the job, he just went on "campaigning" for 4+ more years - and he's still at it.

(3,378 posts)The media needs to stop talking about that buffoon running in 2024, they are giving him strength, only to his followers, but nonetheless they need to weaken him by not talking about him and if they have to talk about his intentions of running, then make sure to end it with "if he is not in jail, of course".
SoCalDavidS
(9,998 posts)Because if you're waiting for ANY accountability coming his way, you're going to be waiting an eternity.
Mr. Evil
(2,825 posts)he'll already be well into his Alzheimer's/dementia. He'll begin to attend rallies wearing SpongeBob SquarePants pajamas telling everyone about the NFL's conspiracy to keep him from Buying the Buffalo Bills. Then he'll start slinging his own shit at the front row (there won't be any other rows because that's all the people there). Then while holding up an old MAGA hat (Make Angina Great Again?) he clutches his chest, pushes his Life Alert button (thinking it will get him a Diet Coke) and finally dies of the greatest heart attack ever!

(5,443 posts)at the state level and to have state legislatures potentially disavow unfavorable results in key states where the GOP has been passing anti-democratic laws. At worst, he has the big lie handy in case the vote count shows he lost and the legislatures refuse to cheat for him after all: "he won, it was stolen." It's a win-win situation for him to run, no matter the actual outcome.
The potential adulation he will receive during the run, especially his rallies, will be too difficult to pass up for him.
The only things that will stop him are death or incapacitation.

(54,302 posts)It's the only way he gets headlines and speaking engagements any more, and he's not about to give up either.
Other than depositions and eventual court appearances, they are all he has left to live for. It's not like he will have have any photos taken of himself working in a Habitat for Humanity project.

(11,428 posts)He loves people cheering for him, he gets off on that. He will win any primary but the general will be tough as overall more people don't want him.
Winning would only be because of what republicans have done to voting in many states.
Our only chance is to put him in jail where he belongs for a long list of things.

(43,155 posts)That being said, there are two ways he doesnt run:
KFC induced coronary event and criminal indictment.
Those are the only two ways out of a Trump redux.
