GOP Megadonor Won’t Back Trump In 2024
October 4, 2021 at 4:58 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard

“Hedge fund manager Ken Griffin, a major donor to Republicans, ruled out supporting Donald Trump for another run for president,” Bloomberg reports.

Said Griffin: “I think it’s time for America to move on.”

“In the last election cycle, Griffin spent big on politics, giving $46 million to Republicans, making him the fourth-biggest individual GOP donor for the period.”

He has, however, spent millions backing lower taxes. Apparently, being worth 16 billion isn't enough.

The Koch brothers at one point said that it wasn;'t worth it to spend on presidential elections because if they had enough congress people they could block anything that they didn't like and push what they wanted.

Case in point -- think of folks like Joni Ernst -- blocked all of Obama's agenda once elected. The only thing that she moved forward was the megatax cut for the uberrich like the Kochs.

You donate enough to a senator from a coal state and a former 'libertarian' and you can totally block the Build back better plan.

For these billionaires in the age of Citizen United -- it makes a lot more sense to buy lots of state and federal legislators than to try to buy a presidency.

Trump running in 2024 is about as likely as the Republicans nominating Bobby Jindal.
