ESPN anchor Sage Steele is taken off air over controversial comments after she questioned why Obama identifies as black and slammed vaccine mandates as 'sick' - as she also recovers from COVID-19
SportsCenter anchor Sage Steele has been taken off the air after she made allegedly controversial comments on former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler's podcast last month.
During the interview, Steele called ESPN's coronavirus vaccine mandate 'sick,' suggested that female journalists welcome harassment based on the way they dress, and commented on former President Barack Obama's 'blackness'.
It has since been announced that she is taking a break from regular on-air duties and apologized for the uproar caused by her comments.

Steele also stated that she believes women 'need to be responsible as well' for inappropriate comments directed at them.
'So when you dress like that, I'm not saying you deserve the gross comments, but you know what you're doing when you're putting that outfit on, too,' Steele said.
'Like, women are smart, so don't play coy and put it all on the guys.'
Her interview sparked controversy in the sports world, as well as on social media.
