Republican voters are increasingly breaking with corporate America over political issues, according to a poll from the Public Affairs Council and Morning Consult released this week.
The survey found that 51 percent of Democrats trust the political information they receive from major companies, compared to 44 percent of Republicans. That's a shift from last year, when 51 percent of Republicans and 46 percent of Democrats said they trusted corporations' political messages.
Overall, 58 percent of both Democrats and Republicans approve of major companies, the poll found. Republicans' favorability of major companies dropped by 7 percentage points year over year, while Democrats' increased by 9 points.
The shift comes as the GOP remakes itself in the image of former President Trump and as corporate America increasingly weighs in on social issues. Major companies are generally aligned with Democrats on immigration, voting rights and LGBTQ protections while continuing to support GOP lawmakers' push for lower taxes and less government regulation.

It would appear culture wars are more important to many in the GOP.
