At Trumps request, former advisers to defy subpoenas from Congressional Jan. 6 committee: report
By DAVE GOLDINER
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS | OCT 06, 2021
Four of Trumps most loyal aides are reportedly poised to defy subpoenas by the House select committee investigating the storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6.
Ex-chief of staff Mark Meadows and onetime political supremo Steve Bannon plan to resist the legal summonses from the panel, along with social media guru Dan Scavino and Pentagon aide Kash Patel, The Guardian first reported.
The panel demanded all documents, emails, and call records related to the Capitol attack by Thursday and to testify behind closed doors next week.
Trumps defense lawyer, former deputy White House counsel Patrick Philbin, intends to tell the aides that they cannot testify without breaching Trumps right to get confidential advice from aides, otherwise known as executive privilege.

Trumps strategy of stonewalling Congress closely hews to the plan he used to prevent House Democrats from deposing his top advisers about other scandals, including the investigation into Russian collusion with the 2016 Trump presidential campaign.

(14,789 posts)On September 20, we learned that after last years election, John Eastman, a well-connected lawyer advising former president Donald Trump, outlined a six-point plan to overturn the outcome of the election and install Trump as Americas leader.
They planned to cut the voters actual choice, Democrat Joe Biden, out of power: as Trump advisor Steve Bannon put it, they planned to kill the Biden presidency in the crib. This appears to have been the plan that Trump and his loyalists tried to execute on January 6.
That is, we now have written proof of an attempt to destroy our democracy and replace it with an autocracy.
This was not some crazy plot of some obscure dude in a shack in the mountains; this was a plan of the president of the United States of America, and it came perilously close to succeeding. The president of the United States tried to overturn the results of an election the centerpiece of our democracy and install himself into power illegitimately.
If this is not a hair-on-fire, screaming emergency, what is?

From one of the outstanding writers of our time and country:
"Obamagate" and "Lock her up": Pointing the way toward "Heil Trump"
Its not just a chant at Trump's rallies or lame wordplay in his tweets. Its his call to fascist rule
By LUCIAN K. TRUSCOTT IV
PUBLISHED MAY 16, 2020
Excerpt
That presaged by 24 hours his now-famous exchange with Philip Rucker of the Washington Post in the Rose Garden, when Rucker asked him, "What crime, exactly, are you accusing President Obama of committing?"
"Obamagate," Trump replied, refusing to define the "crime" or provide any specific evidence. So Rucker followed up: "What is the crime, exactly, that you're accusing him of?" Trump shot him what passed for an angry look: "You know what the crime is," Trump answered. "The crime is very obvious to everybody."
What was Obamagate, pundits asked each other with puzzled looks on their faces, as the week wore on? They should have known that it would have something to do with Michael Flynn, Trump's former national security adviser, who lasted all of 24 days in the job before being fired for lying to Vice President Mike Pence about his phone call with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak in late December of 2016. Flynn was later charged with lying to the FBI, pled guilty twice, and has been awaiting sentencing for more than two years. Trump's Department of Justice, under the direction of Large Lickspittle Bill Barr, moved to drop the charges against Flynn last week, which generated a letter signed by 2,000 former Justice Department officials denouncing the motion filed by Little Lickspittle Timothy Shea, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia. The judge in the case will hold hearings on the matter and has not yet issued a ruling.
There is a perfect symmetry to the involvement of Michael Flynn in Trump's latest attempt to deflect attention from his inept handling of the coronavirus crisis, which has caused the infections of more than 1.4 million Americans and the deaths of more than 87,000 nationwide. Flynn enjoyed a singular distinction during the transition between the Obama and Trump administrations, besides his coziness with Russian bankers and ambassadors. Obama gave Trump only one piece of personal advice during their private meeting in the White House after Trump was elected: Whatever you do, don't hire Michael Flynn. For anything. Ever.

Bannon says he discussed how to 'kill this administration in the crib' with Trump before Jan. 6
by Monique Beals
The Hill, September 23, 2021
Former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon admitted on his podcast that he told President Trump to "kill this administration in the crib early on" ahead of the Biden presidency and the Jan. 6 insurrection.
"We said and told President Trump. 'you need to kill this administration in the crib early on just by its own incompetence and its illegitimacy,'" Bannon said on Wednesday's episode of his podcast.
"It killed itself," Bannon continued. "Just let this go with what this illegitimate regime is doing. It killed itself. We told you from the very beginning. Just expose it. Just expose it. Never back down. Never give up. This thing will implode.

Trump is a worthless piece of shit with one quality lacking in those trying to bring him to justice - he does not give any fucks about anything that does not assist me in staying free tomorrow, period.
You want to take him down? Put him on the defense and make him testify.
Enough select commissions and investigations and nonsense...role the raw footage or his speech and his 'rally'; then make him explain just how the governor of Georgia or the Vice-President were going to save his presidential bid.
Oh, and fuck Donald Trump with used, dirty hypodermics gathered from the gutter.

Those who refuse to cooperate, well. They too deserve public recognition, in addition to charges, trial and condemnation, they merit the epitaph, Traitor.

Trump Assured Putin His Tough Act Was For the Cameras, Former Aide Stephanie Grisham Says
You understand, former president told Russian leader, according to presidents former aide
Lindsey Ellefson
The Wrap | September 28, 2021
Donald Trump assured Russian President Vladimir Putin he was only acting tougher for the cameras when they spoke in 2019, according to former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham in her new memoir.
According to an advance copy of Grishams forthcoming tell-all Ill Take Your Questions Now obtained by The Washington Post, Grisham says she witnessed Trump telling Putin in advance of a press meeting during the 2019 Group of 20 Summit, Okay, Im going to act a little tougher with you for a few minutes. But its for the cameras, and after they leave, well talk. You understand.
Ill Take Your Questions Now, due out on Oct. 5, also discusses the former presidents trip to Walter Reed Medical Center in 2019, for which no explanation was ever provided at the time. According to the Post, Grisham strongly hints that Trump underwent a standard colonoscopy, but rather than advocate for the procedure for older Americans or use the chance to demystify it, he opted to stay silent not least of all because he didnt want to put then-vice president Mike Pence in charge.

(14,789 posts)FINDING 1: President Trump repeatedly asked DOJ leadership to endorse his false claims that the election was stolen and to assist his efforts to overturn the election results.
FINDING 2: White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows asked Acting Attorney General Rosen to initiate election fraud investigations on multiple occasions, violating longstanding restrictions on White House-DOJ communications about specific law- enforcement matters.
FINDING 3: After personally meeting with Trump, Jeffrey Bossert Clark pushed Rosen and Donoghue to assist Trumps election subversion schemeand told Rosen he would decline Trumps potential offer to install him as Acting Attorney General if Rosen agreed to aid that scheme.
FINDING 4: Trump allies with links to the Stop the Steal movement and the January 6 insurrection participated in the pressure campaign against DOJ.
FINDING 5: Trump forced the resignation of U.S. Attorney Byung Jin (BJay) Pak, whom he believed was not doing enough to address false claims of election fraud in Georgia. Trump then went outside the line of succession when naming an Acting U.S. Attorney, bypassing First Assistant U.S. Attorney Kurt Erskine and instead appointing Bobby Christine because he believed Christine would do something about his election fraud claims.
FINDING 6: By pursuing false claims of election fraud before votes were certified, DOJ deviated from longstanding practice meant to avoid inserting DOJ itself as an issue in the election.
