GOP convinced their voters to kill the "social contract"...

... because their ideology threatens mass extinction (global warming and COVID).

Admitting this requires that admitting they are wrong, making sacrifices, and changing their policies.

So in their mind, the social contract must go and people must die.

They have become adherents to the philosophy of the "Joker" in the film "The Dark Knight".

They don't have a plan.
They are dogs chasing a car and they don't have any idea what to do with it when they catch it.

A good number of them also just want to watch the world burn.

The GOP is the second most dangerous group in America today.
The most dangerous? A craven and corporate owned and consolidated media that is flat out worthless for real journalism, holding power accountable or pretty much anything other than puff pieces on rotating evening and weekend talk shows. I was aghast the other day when I happened to flip past Stephanie Rule's show on MSNBC and saw that the show's open has been moved to a full-body camera shot of her in a skimpy black dress with lots of exposed leg and a glass desk (a la Fox News) to further the exploitation and titillation. I threw up a little in my mouth seeing that because the open to her show USED to be a transition to an anchor seated behind the desk and relaying news stories. Oh to be so young and naive once more...

As the ship USA goes down by the head, the band of merry players bleats on and plays their same tired games and routines - lather, rinse, repeat. Scandal addicts scour the day's events and spin them to pre-conceived narratives while meaningful issues and existential threats are down played, muted or just ignored altogether.

Its been this way for the last 25 years and if anyone wants to be REALLY depressed, spend some time today researching and reading stories from 1996 and then realize the pattern that started in the 90's has never let up as we blow past 30-years down the road from the fall of the Berlin Wall. The song "Winds of Change" by the German metal band Scorpions is now in that post-30 age group...but the promise and possibilities of those heady days when the Cold War was won and the world seemed to teem with opportunity seem light years ago now.

Now?
Well, we, as Democrats controlling Congress and the White House (nominally any way) can't compel testimony from co-conspirators to ACTUAL insurrection...

Then?
GOP hacks imprisoned a woman for refusal to testify in the Whitewater fiasco.

We have not gotten better...we have only slid further into hell.

And his fingerprints are all over the collapse of the social contract.

He has been quite successful when it comes to creating chaos, division, death in the US.
All with a clear goal of damaging our country.
