Senate Judiciary probe of Trump's 2020 machinations zeroes in on Pennsylvania House Republican

A Senate Democratic report released Thursday places Rep. Scott Perry at the center of efforts to help former President Donald Trump overturn the 2020 election results, urging other congressional investigators to further probe his involvement in the runup to the Jan. 6 insurrection.

In the last weeks of Trump's administration, according to the new Senate Judiciary Committee majority report, the former president asked Richard Donoghue — then the Justice Department’s second-in-command — for his cell number so lawmakers concerned about the election could call him. Perry (R-Pa.) was one of the lawmakers who ended up with the principal associate deputy attorney general’s phone number.

The report details that Perry contacted Donoghue on Dec. 27, saying Trump himself had suggested the call, and raised false election claims. Perry told Donoghue, the report states, that there were “things going on in Pennsylvania” with regard to ballot-counting that he found improper.

Perry also recommended to Donoghue that Jeffrey Clark, then the head of the Justice Department’s civil division, should become more involved in DOJ's handling of the 2020 election. Trump later considered Clark as a replacement for the acting attorney general, seeing Clark as more sympathetic to claims of voter fraud that have proven baseless.

now more known, day by day, report by report, parallel investigation by investigation…and it is sedition writ large…soon enough the ribbons will be tied and loose ends knotted….and the indictments will drop. Details not only matter, they are vital in prosecuting all this widespread soft coup sedition.

Proof beyond a reasonable doubt is a criminal standard, already very high.

For Herr Trump and his willing minions the standard has to be proof beyond a shadow of a doubt. For obvious reasons.

That will take even more investigation…and time for that investigation to fully ripen before the Indictment Day presents are all unwrapped.

Mob investigations always take time, so the goal is to secure guilty pleas from the attached tentacles, indictments resting on he overwhelming and irrefutable evidence gathered. Then go after the octopus.

The most securely fastened to the main body will resist of course, but am speculating that this former minion of TFG, the head of sedition in Pennsylvania, may turn like a worm.
