Of course it came it a huge rectangular box. Huge. Captain Hughey decided he is going to get in it even if it is still taped up.
The box is occasionally falling on him because it is resting on the couch but he darned well is going to find a way. A while ago he was chewing on a corner.

(10,489 posts)has boxes throughout the house. His obsession, however, is his cardboard scratching block.
He guards it. He sleeps on it. He does not like it being touched or moved. He just discovered a large bday bag coworkers gave me.
But that scratching block is HIS.

(50,527 posts)If you want to make one, get a cardboard box and cut it into one-inch strips, then glue the strips together so the corrugations are pointing up. And if you REALLY want to be high speed about it, rub it with catnip.

(118,460 posts)I got rid of the couch they were using to scratch at the time so maybe they would be into it now. They are both trying to find things to scratch now that I have a leather couch that will not give. There is a tree house but that is pretty much destroyed. Will try yours again.

(8,657 posts)My male definitely not into them. All her animals are so old & dirty, I got her a squeak lamb today from Amazon. She took the toy and ran, and then covered it up with dirt. My other dog led me to it. So now she has a really dirty new toy.

(118,460 posts)That being said Captain Hughey had a stuffed octopus I called Octo and got attached to myself because they were so cute together. Took me years to throw out Octo.

(118,460 posts)and I tried to get him off of me. He would not get off me so I could not sit up (I was lying down and he was lying down on top of me). I think he thinks I am talking to him when I talk on the phone. He acts up anyhow.

(10,126 posts)They fight over them, bat them, carry them around the house. I think they have a secret stash of them somewhere. Ribbons and small balls of yarn are also big. And they have a priority mail box that mysteriously moves around the house at night.

(10,126 posts)I just wish the leaves of my houseplants didn't fall into this category!
I have a very nice stuffed mouse a late friend made: it looks almost real - the right size, the right coloring. It's been through 5 cats now with little wear - something I can't say about store-bought ones.

(13,565 posts)If they eat it, it can tangle up inside. One time my orange boy Keiko ran across the carpet in front of me and there was a length of ribbon hanging out of his butt. Off to the vet. It was more than a foot long. Luckily, easily removed.

(10,126 posts)and bat them across the floor. They sometimes bring them into the bed so we can play with them, too. What I don't understand is their fascination with the bathtub: it's one of their favorite places to wrestle. IMHO, it's so they can get wet and leave paw prints all over the place.
