TFG's lawyer tells former aides not to cooperate with Jan. 6 committee

Trump lawyer tells former aides not to cooperate with Jan. 6 committee

An attorney for former president Donald Trump, in a letter reviewed by The Washington Post, instructed former advisers, including Mark Meadows, Kash Patel, Dan Scavino and Stephen K. Bannon, not to comply with congressional investigators who have requested information about their activities related to the Jan. 6 insurrection.

The group of former White House aides were subpoenaed last month by the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection, seeking records and testimony by midnight Thursday. The bipartisan panel is investigating the storming of the Capitol by a pro-Trump mob trying to stop the certification of Biden’s electoral college win, an attack that resulted in five deaths and left some 140 members of law enforcement injured.

Trump’s legal team argued in the letter, which was first reported by Politico, that records and testimony related to Jan. 6 are protected “from disclosure by the executive and other privileges, including among others the presidential communications, deliberative process, and attorney-client privileges.”

It remains to be seen whether Scavino, Bannon and Meadows, who did not respond to requests for comment, ultimately cooperate with the committee.

1. Start by arresting Bannon. He was a private citizen, still is, and is not a lawyer

Also he has a record. He accepted a pardon that means he admitted he was guilty. The man is a repeat offender. Lock him the fuck up

I don't think sponsoring and covering up a coup qualifies. They can try and stall (just like Nixon did) but these 4 should be going down. Assuming that democrat leadership, including the AG, have the spine to finally go after Republicans for their treasonous or traitorous acts.....

however after
1) Nixon imploding the peace talks in Vietnam to get elected (treason -- aiding a warring power)
2) Reagan paying money and arms to hold US hostages (treason)
3) Bush Sr (same as above plus the NIcaraguans)
4) Bush Jr -- lying about WMD that got us into a long and unnecessary war

I am skeptical that anyone associated with our party has the strength of will to prosecute thse guys. Because ifthey had prosecuted any of these former people (including Bill Barr) -- we would not bein the mess we are now

Where does he get off ordering these people not to comply? HE NO LONGER HAS THE POWER TO DO THAT.

12. The Judiciary will have to resolve this.

The Executive and Legislature can only fight about it. But there is not much they can do about it. The sooner it goes to the Courts, the better it is for everyone, in my opinion.

Given gerrymandering and voter suppression, they believe they’ll seize power again in 2022. End of inquiry. Bannon, Meadows, Trump, et al. get to go home unscathed by justice.

At least that’s the plan. But once tied up in court, it could take years before settled (or dismissed).

-Cooperate and tell the truth and they are in trouble.
-Cooperate and lie and they are in trouble.
-Don't comply and hope the subpoena is not worth the paper it is written on. If they are held in contempt, how much more trouble will they be in over and above if they testify? I liken it to speeding and trying to outrun a cop.
