China and Taiwan

I was reading two articles in the New York Times about China making aggressive moves towards Taiwan. I have to believe Xi is smart enough to know if China invades Taiwan they will ruin their economy, Taiwan's economy, our economy and cause a world wide depression.

Their market would crash. Our market would crash.

4. Not to mention they'd probably lose half their army

And most of their navy and air force. They would also be pariahs. Few countries would want to do business with them again.

5. I doubt they would be pariahs.

Out of around 200 countries in the world only 14 recognize Taiwan as a independent country. The U.S. does not.

6. Big difference between not officially recognizing Taiwan

And being okay with invading it. China is already deeply mistrusted by its neighbors. Invading Taiwan would turn apprehension into opposition.
