I was reading two articles in the New York Times about China making aggressive moves towards Taiwan. I have to believe Xi is smart enough to know if China invades Taiwan they will ruin their economy, Taiwan's economy, our economy and cause a world wide depression.

And most of their navy and air force. They would also be pariahs. Few countries would want to do business with them again.

Out of around 200 countries in the world only 14 recognize Taiwan as a independent country. The U.S. does not.

And being okay with invading it. China is already deeply mistrusted by its neighbors. Invading Taiwan would turn apprehension into opposition.
