And some of us older Dems have seen the keep your powder dry strategy fizzle out time after time, even as we root for our Dem leaders.
She read an editorial, found points she agrees with and reposted just like we do here. She didnt write the article.
Morgan Fairchild is actually quite smart and politically engaged. Dont let the Hollywood image fool you.

(27,835 posts)But opinions quickly dissolve into meaningless when they're not supported by facts.
No doubt Ms. Fairchild will be forthcoming in the days to come with her unique insight into what Merrick Garland is doing - at which point I'll be interested in what she has to say.

Many people, yourself included, express loads of opinions here and I see few challenges or demands for documentation.

(131,216 posts)They're like assholes - everybody's got one. We all have the right to an opinion and the right to express it, but whether that opinion is valuable because it's based on actual knowledge is another question altogether. We should be careful not to conflate a person's right to an opinion with their right to have it taken seriously.

the issue is that opinions on boards like this are almost always judged on face value. The clamor for "credentials" seems only to arise when the opinion in question puts someone's nose out joint. People rarely challenge the credentials of those with whom they already agree.

Judging by the quantity and quality of opinions I've read in my 10 + years on DU, it wouldn't seem so.

You know, I think that word's what's elicited all this response, rather than her unsupported opinion itself. "Admire." If the OP had expressed appreciation for her agreeing with the poster's own feelings, who'd wonder about it? We all appreciate being agreed with.
Anyway, nice Ms. Fairchild's not a trumpist. Too many celebrities disappoint horribly.

"In addition to her work as an actress, Fairchild has long maintained a strong role within the Screen Actors Guild, now SAG-AFTRA. Currently, Fairchild is a three-year board member of the Guild and has served on several diverse committees, including co-chair Legislative Committee, National Executive Committee, SAG-AFTRA Relations Committee, Commercials Contracts Committee, Honors and Tributes Committee (HATS), and Guild Governance and Rules Committee.
"She's also been an advocate against AIDS and for environmentalism."

(131,216 posts)for "not doing his job properly" by people with no comparable knowledge, experience or competence. That government employee is Dr. Fauci, and we would all agree that the criticism of him is unjustified and downright deplorable. How is the situation different where another government employee with decades of experience in his field is being dragged for "not doing his job properly" by people with no comparable knowledge, experience or competence, when that government employee is Merrick Garland?
