How many of you have already gotten them?
I've gotten mine, how many others here have?

(7,805 posts)5 months to the day after my second Moderna jab...the only side effect: a sore arm
Earth-shine
(3,949 posts)The wife and I only had sore arms.
Mom had cold-like symptoms for two days after jabs 2 and 3.
No regrets!

(13,479 posts)I haven't had the opportunity to get one. I know one person who has, and she has cancer so it was recommended by her doctor. How'd you manage to get a booster for three?
Earth-shine
(3,949 posts)The appointment is made on their website publix.com.
I just checked. They are still doing it.

(13,479 posts)though I haven't attempted bc I'm not in that category. Hope everyone stays healthy.

(23,218 posts)We know that vaccines are NOT a cure, we need to continue to mask up, as well.
SheltieLover
(57,073 posts)No going to change that anytime soon!

(23,218 posts)You're right, Moderna hasn't been approved for a third, yet.
They seem to be holding up quite well, much stronger than Pfizer, which is great.
The last that I heard, Moderna was going to submit to the FDA in regard to a third in December.
Rhiannon12866
(204,779 posts)So I drove to a CVS in the next county to get it. Appointments at the nearest CVS were completely booked at the time. I got shot #2 at the very end of March, so I'm not too worried.

(23,218 posts)Pfizer, it was. I just got my 3rd vaccination about a week ago.
One of my kids got Pfizer (just got his third) and the other Moderna as those are what the hospitals were offering.
My son that received the Moderna said those are holding up well for now and no need to worry, just continue to mask up, as usual.
He's expecting his 3rd sometime in December, hopefully.
I'm happy to hear that you're well.

(204,779 posts)My brother is agoraphobic, does not like to leave the house, though he will go a few places if he really has to (doctor's appointments, prescription, vehicle inspection, getting gas) so he was reluctant to go out and get the vaccine. It took me awhile, but I worked on him, and when the large state run clinic at the nearby local mall started taking walk-ins, I jumped at the opportunity and offered to take him. He said he could make his follow up appointment on his own, but I showed up and took him to that one, too.
And he got the Pfizer, but that clinic is no longer in operation. So I'm going to have to come up with a new plan - though he got shot #2 at the end of May...

(23,218 posts)That's wonderful that you were able to to talk to your brother about getting vaccinated, that makes me happy to hear.
I've noticed (with all of the misinformation out there) that sometimes it only takes a bit of talking to, showing that we're okay after getting vaccinated and that's often all that it takes and then, they're willing. Many are just unsure and afraid.
When he's due for his next vaccination, check local drugstores (sign him up online) and they'll notify you both when he's due for his next vaccination.
Good job and I wish you both the best.

(204,779 posts)I can even remember getting vaccinations right in school, don't ask me what they were, but al the kids did. So what's so different about this one? Except that this virus is currently spreading globally and is highly transmissible.
So my brother wasn't anti-vaxx, he just thought he didn't need it since he rarely went anywhere and didn't want to go anywhere if he didn't have to. I also brought him a KN95 mask early on, turns out he tried making his own. For the past year and a half, masks were mandated to enter any store or business here in New York - until this past July that is, just in time for "tourist season." Now only the unvaccinated are required to wear masks, leaving it to "the honor system." *sigh*
My brother isn't old enough to qualify for a third shot yet, nor does he have any other health qualifications, but I know from others where they offer the Pfizer (Walgreens), so I guess I'd better start working on him now.

(16,273 posts)I also got my flu shot, one shot in each arm. It's been almost exactly 12 hours now, and I feel fine, except both arms are sore.
Still masking up. (We have an indoor mask mandate in this state anyway.) I finally broke down and got some KN95 masks. Yes, I have been wearing cloth masks all this time, until now.

(4,427 posts)Got Pfizer 1 in February, Pfizer 2 inMarch. From the VA hospital.
Took me several days last week to schedule my booster for today. They dont have a state record of me since my shots before were through the VA, so they had extra questions to delay my scheduling. But we got it worked out.

(43,107 posts)(100 µg dosage), administered in a very small secondary continuation of an experimental trial here at Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset (Stockholm). We (my wife and I) received the booster on September 23rd, approximately 5 months post second jab (our first 2 sticks were another variant-tweaked Moderna, mRNA-1273.351, designed to combat Beta, aka the South African variant).
We just got (via a Zoom call 2 hours ago) the initial results from the 2 weeks post-jab blood draw (we gave the samples last Thursday, October 7th, at Karolinska Huddinge) and all the metrics (antibody titers, B-Cell, T-helper, T-killer, etc counts) are off the charts.
More background here (on getting the jab and the reaction):

(44,972 posts)Nobody tested my blood but I also hope for "off the charts" antibodies.
I had a reaction to it, fever for a couple of days and a "covid" arm.

(33,992 posts)My 65th Birthday was 9/26. 6 months after my second shot was 9/27. Since I was traveling back from my birthday bike bash on the 27th, I made an appointment for the 28th.
Got a slight fever (for me). My normal high 96-low 97 temperature was 99.3 I could feel the fever coming on for about 2 hours (normal for me). It lasted for about 5 hours. Sore arm lasted for about 2 days. Migraines erupted 8 days later (a little earlier than the first dose; a little later than the 2nd).
