It's bizarre how little coverage the fast-tracked implosion of the US Postal Service is getting.

It's bizarre how little coverage the fast-tracked implosion of the US Postal Service is getting. That's a beloved government service that touches every person in America and the destruction is so obvious and tangible. I'm not clear why it's so undercovered.

get my prescription drugs through the mail. Now, in my case, running out for a few days would not be a life-threatening situation. Also, I get a 90 day supply and they allow me to reorder a month before I run out.

Frankly, I haven't noticed any difference in my mail service in the last few years, but I think it's because I live in a small town and maybe my mail service was not that great to begin with. I do have relatives in big cities that are having problems. Of course, there are more mail in ballots in big cities, too. Maybe that's why they are taking more hits from DeJoy's wrecking ball.

The old fashioned way. I’m amazed that some still do that. Too much work. Plus you save 5 or 10 dollars using electronic. My cell phone is 10 dollars reduced by using electric automatic pay. My cable and electric bill takes off are 5 dollars each. I like saving money. Plus stamps cost a fortune now.

He won't use a computer. If he had to take over paying the bills, he would be confused and angry over electronic payments.

About ten years ago, I became ill and spent six days in the hospital. He had to pay the bills. I was relieved that I had not changed anything. My kids think this is nuts, but I am going to leave things alone for now.

Or they charge a lot extra to pay electronically. Like the DMV and county clerk.

Then there are gifts and cards I send by mail. And I'm in the middle of a refi and there is a ton of paperwork that has to be mailed. Without the post office, I would be paying out alot to commercial profiteers.

Glad it wasn't too difficult. Because of where I live, I have to drive to the post office downtown, and that building has a lot of steps up front. I have a prosthetic leg, and I hate walking up a lot of steps, especially ones without a railing. So I have that issue with the post office as well. It's a nice old building, but not very practical. There's been talk lately of shutting it down. I don't know where I'll have to go if they do that. They really need to get rid of DeJoy. There's got to be something they can do. If there was a liberal in that position and the government was in Republican hands, I'll bet you they would have gotten rid of him already.

DeJoy can only be replaced by the USPS Board of Governors. Biden has to replace a majority of them before they can remove DeJoy.

The process takes time.

the number of Governors can be increased by Biden, and speed up the process......Am I wrong??????

Or was that increasing the number of justices on the Supreme Court to neuter the imbalance created by Trump, McConnell and Repubs....????

I certainly don't envy Biden, he is taking it from every direction by the Republicans........

I am sure that is the Repub's strategy, among a lot of other things............

He is STILL continuing full speed ahead............He won't be happy until the USPS is obliterated and a letter costs 15 bucks to mail via Fed Ex or UPS..........And of course, just wait until Fed Ex or UPS slaps a huge surcharge on any package or box they have to then deliver to a rural address. And then, they will probably stack the boxes in a truck and wait until enough accumulate to finally make the trip.......

but I think Congress and most politicians and most of the business-minded public knows the USPS faces bottom-line issues relating to red ink, seasonal package volumes, reduced first class mail, modernization costs being the most prominent. They are allowing DeJoy to tweak the business because he is an experienced businessman in this industry so he can take the heat. When he's done all he can to increase profitability, no matter how unpopular, he'll be gone. He'll prob get off light for his efforts.
