GrASSly tries to defend his recent appearance with TFG

U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley defended his recent onstage appearance with former President Donald Trump, who has continued using the same election rhetoric Grassley previously criticized as "extreme, aggressive and irresponsible."

"He's a private citizen," Grassley told reporters following an event in Des Moines. "He can say anything he wants to. I'm looking to the 2022 election and presenting my case to the people."

Grassley was among the opening speakers at Trump's rally at the Iowa State Fairgrounds last week, and he appeared alongside to accept the former president's formal endorsement in his 2022 reelection campaign.

The appearance — an apparent embrace of Trump — surprised some political observers, who pointed to Grassley's rebuke of the former president following the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol riots.

Trump is between 30 and 40% higher than Biden there in terms of net favourability.

rather than retire in dignity? Younger people may sometimes feel forced to do it, but Grassley has no excuse. If he wants to fight on the basis of principle, go for it, but anyone who sucks up to Trump has no principles. He surely has enough money to retire, so this shows you how low he really is.

and sending the electors they want to send to the EC.

For one, and not certifying any election they lose in red states, for two.

he sure did dance a long time for someone his age.

ETA: AC just said “He’s no longer a public servant but is only serving himself.”
