I think maybe the rethugs are waiting and hoping that TFG will go so bat shit crazy

That even his most ardent followers will start abandoning him. They are stuck in the sinking ship and hoping for a miracle that would allow them to drop him. But it’s not going to happen, at this point they are stuck with him while the country watches him unravel.

They had that moment to pivot and become REAL patriots but they gave into fear.

and there was support for doing that, it would have all been over. Trump should have been put in cuffs and led off to jail on the night of January 6. That might have been our only opportunity to get rid of him, and Pence blew it. I've had an uneasy feeling since then that it's too late to do anything to him now. Unless they're able to get Trump on criminal charges, he'll live to fight another day and bring on another insurrection that might be successful next time.
