Alabama pastor who raped, impregnated and married 14-year-old won't face jail time

"Jason Greathouse, who used to minister in Enterprise but now lives in Tennessee, reached a deal with the Coffee County District Attorney's Office on Thursday that downgrades his charge from second-degree rape, a felony, to contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a misdemeanor, according to court records," reported Howard Koplowitz. "Greathouse, a resident of Henderson, Tennessee, agreed to serve two years of unsupervised probation for the 2018 incident, which occurred when he was 20 and the victim was 14, records showed. The pastor also does not have to register as a sex offender under the agreement's terms."

Greathouse had married his victim at her parents' demand, the report said.

I suppose we should just be thankful they did not stone her to death for being raped as a child...
So ridiculous. Alabama - more backward than most emerging nations... well done.

She turned 18 and was finally able to file for divorce on her own.

This is the "good old boy" network protecting a now 26 year old preacher man from a "wicked Lolita" in a custody battle, that probably includes alimony because of her youth when being forced into marriage.
He's probably a rising star in Tennessee Evangelical circles. And now he's learned he has to up the age with his predations to youthful looking 17 almost 18 year olds. He might still be able to find naive virgins among the protected girls to groom at those ages...

I thought that was an interesting comparison, buying beer for a minor v. pedophilia. Seems to me that molesting a child and knocking her up is a bit more serious than merely getting her drunk.

The young lady should be angry at them for creating more trauma for her. And in India, they are successfully fighting against this.

I will fly into NO for the Jazz Fest if it's ever safe again and fly to see my relatives in TX, but I will not drive through either state, AL or MS. I might have to stop at some small place and then the fuckery begins by the redneck natives. Been there and barely escaped (2x) in TX, and harassed in AL, LA & MS at restaurants and small gas stations. Now, this was long long ago when I looked like a hippie, but the rednecks haven't changed and I don't want to give them one red dime or depend on them minding their own business and leaving me & mine alone. I have never been harassed when stopping at a restaurant or gas station.
