it's a Republican vs. the world thing.

February 8, 1965, in the middle of the battles for civil rights, is when LBJ sent official warning to congress that we have to take action, and Democrats passed 6 new environmental laws that year. Big energy's, and thus the GOP's, response was to stop messing around in back rooms and move to all-out battle to stop action.

"This generation has altered the composition of the atmosphere on a global scale through radioactive materials and a steady increase in carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels." It was a letter to congress, not a stump speech, but no one can say this extremely important message wasn't taken seriously.

I believe they think their wealth will buy them and/or their heirs out of catastrophe. I believe they will use panic to promote corporate-friendly legislation and Martial law. I believe they think there are untold riches to be made in the new feudalism. They will own the best farmland. They will own the best water. They will own the best people. The will own the best law enforcement.

Tired of the delays and the excuses.

It’s long past time for “damn the torpedoes.” Unless you’d rather have “damn the planet.”
