Short on options, Trump pushes a new idea: A do-over election

https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/short-options-trump-pushes-new-idea-do-over-election-n1281740?cid=sm_npd_nn_tw_ma

The fact that Donald Trump refuses to abandon his weird election conspiracy theories is not surprising. What's notable, however, is how the former president is following through on the Big Lie.

On Friday night, for example, the Republican issued a written statement, featuring his idiosyncratic approach to capitalization, which began, "A new analysis of mail-in ballots in Pima County, Arizona means the election was Rigged and Stolen from the Republican Party in 2020, and in particular, its Presidential Candidate."

After a few paragraphs of related palaver, Trump concluded, "Either a new Election should immediately take place or the past Election should be decertified and the Republican candidate declared the winner."

Right off the bat, it's important to note that the former president has no idea what he's talking about. As the NBC affiliate in Phoenix reported, Pima County officials received a large number of mail-in ballots, which was consistent with statewide turnouts.

Pima County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry rejected Trump's suggestions that fraud took place in southern Arizona last November. "Pima County conducted a free, fair, secure, and accurate election. The results were publicly audited via hand count by the County's Republican and Democratic parties, and the results were certified by the Pima County Board of Supervisors and Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey," he said Friday.

Kansas City gets Roger Maris back (Oops, we didn't mean it...)
Pittsburgh Steelers get Johnny Unitas back (Oops, we didn't mean it...)

because he knows full well he keeps his delusional and dangerous followers riled up and Trump is hoping they'll go on the attack again.

Trump is deliberately trying to cause violence.

How is that not a crime?

This is the only time in trump's life that he has any significant relevance. All of his adult life he's been cast away and shunned by elite groups, celebrities, etc. He was tolerated, but never accepted because he is a deeply flawed human being. Now he has the adulation of tens of millions of people. He's gotten what he so desperately wanted his whole life. He relishes each and every moment as only a malignant narcissist can.

Maybe he’d get it if a “big tough guy with tears in his eyes” came up to him and said, “Sir, you shall have your do-over in 2024.”

Trump has no path to re-becoming president. None. It doesn't exist. Let it go. All this is doing is fueling the fire for the MAGAs and making them angrier and dividing us further.

Let us say, just for the hell of it, that Trump got his do-over election and got absolutely stomped in it. We’re talking a delta of 25 million votes that swung from Trump to Biden because the American people are sick of his shit. This would not end Trump’s screaming about stolen elections; rather, it would cause him to turn up the volume.

Even if he wins 2024 he won’t shut up.

Right now there are only six things that will shut him the fuck up, and five of them qualify as unconstitutional forms of capital punishment. The sixth is to put him in ADX Florence and weld his cell door shut.
