Liz Cheney drops bombshell during hearing -- and suggests Trump 'was personally involved in the planning of January 6th'

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) on Tuesday issued a scathing assessment of former President Donald Trump and ally Steve Bannon's decision to stonewall the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th attacks on the United States Capitol.

After dismantling Bannon's claims that he is protected by executive privilege from testifying before the committee, Cheney speculated that Trump and Bannon have very personal reasons for not wanting any testimony to go forward.

"Mr. Bannon's and Mr. Trump's privilege arguments do appear to reveal one thing, however: they suggest that President Trump was personally involved in the planning and execution of January 6th," she said. "And we will get to the bottom of that."

They are there to try and save our democracy and to try and find out what happened on January 6th. We saw what we saw with our own eyes, but there are deeper parts of the story that must be understood, so that it never happens again. We should all want to protect our Constitution.

Trump organized a rally, and even a march to the Capitol. But there will be no way to prove he knew it was going to get violent even though that was obvious by his language.

I'm not advocating for a Republican President, per say. But IF....IF.....Republicans successfully gerrymander, and enact voter suppression laws, and proliferate misinformation, in order to steal the win in 2024.....

Then I hope that the person they nominate is Liz Cheney. I hope she challenges Trump or whomever represents the Trump Party in a primary, and the majority of R's come to their senses and pick Liz.

I was appalled listening to her defend her father's decisions. And I'm appalled she also voted for most of all of Trump's bills.

But at the very least.....it seems she has a modicum of decency and common sense, and is not afraid to call out BS when she sees it.

Mostly I'm just scared to death of a second Trump term. And IF the GOP won again, I pray its her and not him on the iron throne.
