From email: I just finished reviewing the data from the first fundraising quarter of our campaign, and I have huge news about our race to defeat Sen. Grassley (R-IA).

As someone who has personally invested in this campaign (thank you, thank you for your support!), I'm especially excited to share this with you, Steven: After just over two months of campaigning, we've already raised more than $1 MILLION!

But that's not all: This quarter we officially out-raised seven-term incumbent Sen. Grassley! Polling data already showed that 64% of voters don't want to reelect Sen. Grassley – now we're seeing that overwhelming energy in our fundraising numbers and building the kind of powerful campaign he's never faced before.

This is a true grassroots movement: that $1 million we raised came from nearly 16,000 grassroots donors who are 100% committed to defeating Sen. Grassley and protecting our Senate majority, and we received donations from all 99 counties in Iowa – a truly impressive feat!

It's clear as day: Iowans are ready for change, and they're ready to fight for it too.

All of this is worth celebrating, and I'm so grateful to you and this entire grassroots team. But we've got to be realistic about what we're facing, which brings me to some bad news: The GOP Senate campaign arm has raised tens of millions of dollars and are now sitting on a war chest of more than $25 million with which to protect vulnerable incumbents like Sen. Grassley – because if we defeat him, Democrats are virtually guaranteed to hold Senate control.

I fully intend on winning this race, but in order to compete with massive fundraising numbers from national Republicans, we've got to seize our momentum and build on the $1 million we just raised – $10, $20, $50 at a time.
